Did you ever dream of riding a horse on the beach? Well, here is some info to help plan that ride! The next time you head to the Oregon Coast consider staying in a Pacific City vacation rental and make reservations for a horseback adventure you’ll never forget!

Oregon Beach Rides offers Oregon Coast horseback riding in the Pacific City and Nehalem Bay area. They have experienced horses for all skill levels, guidance and instruction is included.  Ages 6 & up can ride… they even have miniature horses to accommodate! 

If you prefer riding in a horse-drawn carriage… they offer daily Sunset Carriage Rides in a beautiful surrey through Nehalem Bay State Park and down along the Manzanita shoreline… great for special occasions :)

Locations

  • Pacific City~ Day Use area in the Bob Straub State Park
  • Nehalem Bay/Manzanita area~ Nehalem Bay State Park

They are open 7 days a week year round 9am-5pm. You can schedule a ride mid morning, afternoon, or early evening sunset!  Rides are by appointment & they always welcome new riders. Reservations are highly encouraged, walk in’s can be accommodated when possible.

Beach Clean Up~ Washington Peninsula Beaches

Plan a trip to the Long Beach area during the next beach clean up! They need your help & you can make a make a wonderful difference!

The GrassRoots Garbage Gang is an all-volunteer, Washington State not-for-profit group that cleans up the Peninsula beaches in SW Washington. (Visit their website for all the details)

Each January, April and July hundreds of volunteers clean the Peninsula’s 28-mile beach. Support comes from incredible volunteers, local businesses, City of Long Beach, Marine Resource Committee and Washington State Parks!

Next Clean Up Date~ April 23, 2011

  • Potluck – Friday night at Sr. Activity Center in Klipsan on Pacific Highway from 5- 6 and Speaker from 6- 7pm
  • Soup Feed after the cleanup at Sr. Center as well 11:30-1:30
  • Clean Up starts at 9:30am at any of the major beach approaches (Seaview, Sid Snyder, Bolstad, Cranberry, Klipsan, Ocean Park, Oysterville Rd)  generally finishing around 11:30–12.

The Beach Approach Coordinator will give you some cleaning supplies and direction on where we need the most help today – just ask them where to start cleaning when you sign in.

Mark your calendars for the next beach clean ups:
2011: January 8th, April 23rd and July 5th
2012: January 21st, April 21 and July 5th
