Lincoln City Fall Kite Festival ~ October 8-9, 2011
The Fall Kite Festival is held on the beach, in the center of Lincoln City, at the D-River Wayside from 10am-4pm on Saturday and Sunday. This year’s theme is “Rockin’ the Rokkaku!” The festival will include kite flying demonstrations by experts, including Connor Doran, a finalist in 2010 on the top-rated NBC series, America’s Got Talent! Connor auditioned along with 90,000 people and brought indoor kite flying to the world.
The weekend includes featured fliers, family-friendly activities like kite-making, a kid’s kite parade, a Rokkaku (six-sided kite) aerial battle with past national champion Ronda Brewer, and a mass ascension.
Schedule for Both Days:
10:00am Opening Announcements, Past Rokkaku Battle National Champion, Ronda Brewer will teach you the “Art of Battle.” Meet her on the north end of the beach.

Blow your own glass float! What a great way to spend some of your vacation time creating a unique keepsake from your beach trip… At this glassblowing studio your group will have the opportunity not only to see glassblowing in progress, but also to experience the art. If you need lodging info for Lincoln City, check out this list of Lincoln City vacation rental homes, many of these rental homes can accommodate your large group needs.
The Jennifer Sears Glass Blowing Studio offers glassblowing demonstrations free to the public, Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., exclusive of a few major holidays. For a modest fee, the artists at the studio will also teach anyone in your group who wishes how to blow their own glass float or make their own paperweight. Those in your group who seek out the artist within and blow a float are photographed with their creation, which is ready for them to take home at noon the following day. Photography and questions are allowed and encouraged, and the artists make every effort to educate guests about the various techniques of glass art. Retail sales of glass art are not available on premises.
Groups of 45 can be accommodated. Public restrooms and visitor information about the area are available, and a deli across the parking lot at the IGA makes an inexpensive lunch readily available. You can even eat lunch while you watch glass art being created. If a number of people in your group plan on blowing their own float or making their own paperweight, it is best to call ahead for reservations. Recommended time allotment for your stay is 45-60 minutes plus 20-25 minutes for every person in the group who wishes to blow a float or make a paperweight.

 Courtesy of~ The Lincoln City Visitor and Convention Bureau October 16, 2010 through Memorial Day 2011 ~ Lincoln City Finders Keepers will begin its annual event where Hand-Crafted Glass Treasures will be placed along the 7-1/2 miles of public beach, from the Roads End area to the Cutler City area. Reserve your lodging for Lincoln City early and join this fun search for treasure every year!
Each year, more than 2000 signed and numbered handcrafted glass floats are hidden along Lincoln City’s beach for lucky beachcombers to find and keep. They hide about 65 each week (a few each day) ocean and weather permitting.
Floats may be found above the high tide line and below the beach embankment. Floats will not be found in or on the cliffs & they are not hidden on the beaches during storms. Please be aware of beach safety 
You find it… you keep it! When you find one of these glass treasures, call the Visitor and Convention Bureau at 1-800-452-2151 or 541-996-1274 to register your float. They will send a Certificate of Authenticity and information about the artists who crafted your treasure.
Finders Keepers started in 1999 to celebrate the millennium as well as to commemorate a history of finding Japanese glass fishing floats on the beach, some of which having floated in the Pacific for over 30 years. *If you don’t find a float… you can blow your own at the Jennifer Sears Glass Art Studio www.lcglasscenter.com

If you love dogs & entertainment… here’s a fun Oregon Coast event you won’t want to miss! Come watch the show or be part of it… let your canine companion be at star at the Annual Mutt Masters Dog Show and Olympics. This is a “for fun” show for all breeds, sizes and ages, so pack up Bowser and bring the whole family… you can enjoy the entire weekend at the beach as there is plenty of pet friendly lodging in the Lincoln City area!
Some of the categories include: Tail Wag Champ, Sweetest Smoocher, Fabulous Frisbee Catcher, Best Dressed & Dog/Human Look-a-Like Contest (costumes are encouraged:-)
There will be food booths for humans, as well as booths offering pet-related information, unique treats and gifts! Raffles will occur throughout the day… prizes include gift certificates, doggie and human goodies, glass floats and more. You can take part in a 5K Dog Run & Walk at 8 a.m if you wish as well!
Location: at the OLD Taft Elementary School – 1545 SE 50th St, Lincoln City Oregon
Spectator Fee: suggested donation – $5 per person (kids 12 and under get in for free!) A bag of dry pet food will also get spectators in for free!
Showtime: 12:00 noon
Registration: begins at 11:00 am
Registration Fee: $2 per dog per category or $15 per dog for unlimited categories (One handler gets in with each registered dog)

 Nelscott Reef Rental - Lincoln City Lincoln City is a great place to find an oceanfront rental home for your family vacation, reunion or group gathering. Many large homes dot the shoreline from Road’s End area to Siletz Bay, some have cliff top views while others have low bank beach access. If you can’t fit everyone into one home, there are usually rental homes close by that can keep your group close together while providing you with some extra privacy too. Here are a few oceanfront homes that accommodate up to 20 people (Whale Watcher has 7 bedrooms & 11 beds!) Or if you are needing a romantic escape… Lincoln City is a great place for that as well! You can find beautiful one bedroom oceanfront condos for two, some even come with a beach side hot tub… The Seashell & Miracles are favorites… other’s have indoor jacuzzi tubs and fireplaces for those stormy nights. Don’t forget to pack the champange:)
Want to take Bowser to Lincoln City and have an ocean view too? Check out these pet friendly oceanfront rentals or pet friendly with a view would work too, either way… he doesn’t care as long as there’s a beach close by!

If you are looking for things to “keep the kids busy” while on your Oregon Coast vacation here are a few ideas… Seaside, Lincoln City and Newport are a just few of the towns with lots of things for the kids to enjoy, on and off the beach!
