Beach house rentals, vacation fun and surf are what Seaside Oregon and Gearhart are known for… Seaside Oregon is More than a day at the beach! It’s three miles of powder-soft beach and two miles of manicured ocean front boardwalk. Find a Seaside vacation rental within walking distance of the popular main street activities and the kids can have fun at arcades while you shop or take a stroll along the ocean front promenade. Seaside is a great place to find large group vacation rentals like Weiss Paradise Suites & Rentals, they can accommodate up to 26 of your family and friends!
Seaside is on the north coast of Oregon and is just a 90 minute drive from the Portland airport. It’s conveniently located in the middle of many coast attractions. Just north is the quiet town of Gearhart, where you can find a vacation rental near the popular Gearhart Golf Links. South of town where the shore turns rocky, you can watch the local surfers ride the waves while you comb the beach for treasures.
This historic town of Seaside lies at the end of the Lewis and Clark trail. A bronze monument honoring the expedition overlooks the Pacific Ocean at the famous downtown turnaround. You can learn the history of Lewis and Clark at the Fort Clatsop interpretive center just south of Astoria.
Visit Seaside anytime of the year and always find a fun family adventure!

Oregon State has nine lighthouses along the coast that guarantee your next trip to the beach will be a memorable one… Let’s start in the north and work our way south exploring the Lighthouses of the Oregon Coast. There is plenty of lodging to choose from nearby in Seaside and Cannon Beach if you want to stay in the area before your next stop.
The Tillamook Rock Lighthouse or “Terrible Tilly” as it came to be known sits 1 mile west of “Tillamook Head” between Cannon Beach and Seaside Oregon. It was commissioned in 1881 to help guide ships entering the mighty Columbia River and operated until 1957 when it was replaced by a whistle buoy. Sitting on a basalt rock islet, the 62-foot tower displayed a first-order Fresnel lens that sat at 133 feet above sea level. Tillamook Rock Lighthouse is included on the National Register of Historic Places and is the only privately owned lighthouse along the Oregon Coast.
After it was decommissioned, it was sold several times to private investors, and was eventually used as a columbarium, a storage place for the ashes of the deceased. There is no public access but you can view this majestic lighthouse using a trail that runs from Ecola State park near Cannon Beach on the south to Seaside Oregon from the north that takes you around Tillamook Head. Remember, for access to Ecola State park, there is an Oregon State park day use fee or use your annual parking permit or Oregon Pacific Coast Passport.
Next up is my favorite lighthouse, Cape Meares near Tillamook Oregon…

Are you looking to host your family reunion at the Oregon Coast this year? Seaside is a great place to consider as it’s well known for family FUN activities… arcades, bumper cars, bicycle surreys, paddle boats… all kinds of stuff the kids will love and the family can enjoy together.
A great idea to help with lodging are these vacation rental properties from Weiss Paradise Suites & Rentals including two houses and a duplex. This combination works great for reunions of 20-26 people. Having multiple units on one property makes it nice when there is a large number of people and especially when some would like separate accommodations.
If you don’t have quite so many and all want to be in the same house. A Prom House is located ocean front, directly on the famous prom that lines the beach. It will accommodate up to 12, including 4 bedrooms and 2 baths. The home has recently been remodeled with new furnishings to make it even more enjoyable. The bathrooms were totally remodeled March 2008 and even have heated floors! With four bedrooms, two baths and two bonus rooms, a large group can enjoy the 50″ plasma TV or one of the other features such as the rock fireplace, Foosball table, the deck or the enclosed front yard. This home has all of the amenities you might need from WIFI, DVD/VHS players to CD/stereo or cable. (Of course they have washer/dryer, telephone, BBQ, coffee and ice makers, etc:)
If you need to accommodate a larger group… more than 26, many Seaside vacation rentals are near each other and can be rented separately while offering privacy and close proximity. It’s a great way to create a family reunion to remember!
