There's so much to do around Newport - scenic excursions, aquariums, historical museums and lighthouse tours. Take the time to enjoy it all and find a comfortable, well equipped Newport vacation rental to fit your plans. Popular Oregon coast beach houses book up quickly for the holidays and summer season. Favorite areas include Nye Beach, South Beach, Yaquina Bay and Beverly Beach.

Enjoy whale watching from a beach cottage with the perfect ocean view (whale watching). Watch for gray whales migrating past our coastline during winter and spring breaks.

You can visit, tour or even hold your wedding at one of the two historic Yaquina Bay and Yaquina Head Lighthouses built in the early 1870's.

Sites within the Cape Perpetua Scenic Area include Devil's Churn, the Cape Perpetua Overlook (highest point along the Oregon Coast), the Cape Perpetua Campground, Cook's Chasm, and the Spouting Horn.

Agates can be collected all along the Oregon coast, but around Newport are some of the finest agate hunting areas in the world. Beachcombing can yield trophy agates of 5 pounds and the best thing is they require no special tools and it's free!

The Oregon Coast Aquarium is located in the city.

You go crabbing and clamming along the coast and most areas are open year round, 24 hours a day except as special regulation apply. The ocean is closed for Dungeness crab Aug 15 - Nov 30.
