To give you a better idea of how close we are to the surf take the time to enlarge picture number 5 and you will see that it was taken while standing in the surf.

Additional Features:
A fire on the beach is a must for any stay at the coast and you can have yours just off the back deck. We provide enough seasoned firewood to start a nice fire and there is a TON of firewood on the beach to keep it going all night. We do require that you follow the law (and common sense) and keep all beach fires 100' from all trees (and my house). If the weather is not cooperating then the gas fireplace inside the the perfect place to watch the waves crash against the beach.

  • We allow well behaved pets of all sizes on a case-by-case basis (the pet fee is $75 for the stay). Please provide your pets age, breed and approximate weight in your inquire.
  • Due to our close proximity to the surf on BBQ is available May 1 - Oct 31 only (or as weather conditions allow).

    Additional Amenities:
I manage my home personally and work hard to keep it in top condition. While I am not a big fan of VRBO they do have the most reliable reviews in the industry and only post reviews that have been verified from renters that have paid there added fees, I have tons of 5 star glowing reviews that you can see at https://www.vrbo.com/506689#reviews

  • Note: If you choose to book via VRBO website they will charge a higher nightly rate and add additional fees.
  • I know that you can find cheaper places to stay at the coast, but you get what you pay for, would you rather stay at the beach or "on the beach"?
  • To get a better idea of how close we are to the surf take the time to enlarge picture #5 and you will see that it was taken while standing in the surf.

  • Things to See & Do

    Local Attractions:
Rockaway Beach Oregon: Located 90 miles west of Portland Oregon and was one of the first vacation hot spots on the Oregon Coast. Founded in 1920, long before the roads were completed families came by train each summer to enjoy the beach. Today Rockaway Beach is still a favorite vacation destination because of it's natural beauty and steam train's only job is to provide tourists with scenic views of forested mountains that slope into the Ocean and the dramatic rock formations just off shore.

  • The Town: Downtown Rockaway Beach looks and feels like a classic beach town from decades gone by. More than a dozen restaurants are mixed in with the antique, gift, candy, souvenir and other shops line the streets. No traffic, no stop lights, no casinos and even in peak summer Rockaway never feels crowded. During the winter months the ocean becomes even more spectacular making it the preferred time of year to visit for people that are into storm watching.
  • The Beach: Rockaway Beach has seven miles of pristine white-sand beaches that are open to the public and are never crowded. Visitors come to Rockaway to enjoy a number of beach activities, including; beach combing, kite flying, boarding, sun bathing, surf fishing, bird-watching and more. (140 bird species have been identified in the Rockaway Beach area).
  • Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad: The Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad (OSCAR.net) the antique steam engine pulls trains for scenic trips between the towns of Garibaldi and Rockaway during the summer months. Dinner trains also are available from Garibaldi a few times per year.
  • Fishing and Whale Watching: The Oregon Coast has seen a boom in recreational fishing in recent years and numerous charter fishing boats are available. Crabbing from the public dock or rental boat are both popular as well as fresh water fishing in one of the area's 7 rivers and many lakes. If fishing is not your thing consider a whale watching charter boat for up-close viewing. The whale migrations usually happen in late March and late December, and while they can be viewed from shore, going out on a charter boat will get you even closer to the action.

3 years ago I searched for a house "on the beach", I just wanted to get as close to the beach as possible and I found this. Oh MY what a treat!! We have been coming here annually ever since our first visit and I don't see a stop in sight. All the comforts and amenities from home, but at the beach!! Fawnda is a wonderful property owner and will answer if you need her, she really has provided everything to make you comfortable...and yes the sheets and bedding are as good as she claims!! Looking forward to our visit and the future ones as well. —Brandi Doran from Castle Rock, WA

This home was absolutely wonderful, we did not want to leave. Just enough space for all 6 of us, with comfortable beds and sofas, and clean bathrooms. The appliances were modern, and though I did not do a lot of cooking during our stay, I appreciated that it had all the kitchen tools you would ever need. Best of all was the view -- we were able to just unplug and enjoy the outdoors and cozy indoors. I enjoyed the beautiful sunsets and stargazing at night, and the fact that the beach was quiet and uncrowded. Try the New Taste of India food truck in town (delicious!). We hope to be able to enjoy this wonderful A-Frame again in the future. —Denise B. from Salem, OR

My elderly mother, myself and my brother and sister-in-law just spent a week at this wonderful, comfortable beach house. The sand is right out the back door, and the views were fantastic! Sunsets and sunrises were the best parts of the day. The home is well decorated and the dual sofas in the living room, as well as all 3 beds were super comfortable. Televisions in each room allowed for us all to watch what we wanted at night, or we could watch together by the cozy gas fireplace in the living room. The bathrooms are roomy and the water pressure for showing was great. Fresh clean linens in the bedrooms and bathrooms. My mother could not climb down the 5 or so rock stairs to the actual beach, but she enjoyed watching the surf from the back porch. We would gladly stay here again!! Thank you Mike for sharing your little slice of heaven with us. Pictures just don't do it justice. —Heather Cochran from Three Forks, MT
