Florence, Oregon is located on the northern edge of the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area (ODNRA). These dunes are some of the largest oceanfront dunes in the world. They range up to 500 feet high and form banks up to three miles deep. Stretching for 50 miles between Florence and Coos Bay, the Oregon dunes are the largest expanse of coastal sand dunes in the United States. Go hiking, dune buggy riding or horseback riding on the dunes. They are truly spectacular.

Go fishing, swimming, and boating. if you rent a beach house near the ocean, enjoy clamming, crabbing, ocean and river fishing. In the summer you can also enjoy a jet boat trip up the Siuslaw River or take an old fashioned sternwheeler on an excursion or dinner cruise!

If you golf, you will enjoy the Oregon Dunes Golf Links public course. It too is surrounded by sixty foot high sand dunes.
