GUARDENIA ST HOUSE ~
Walk miles of isolated pristine sandy beach... Quiet & secluded, nestled at the edge of native Sitka spruce & hemlock forest, this pet-friendly house is just a short stroll (1 block) from the beach. Floor-to-ceiling windows reveal a stunning view into forest that begins just steps from immense wrap-around juniper deck. Hardwood interiors, skylights, vaulted ceilings. Our “Kids’ Bunkhouse” sleeps 2-3 and adjoins the deck near the bedrooms, decorated with “kid décor.”

Tierra del Mar: For 40 miles, Highway 101 turns inland between Tillamook and Lincoln City. But running along the coastline (and unknown to most travelers) is the little-known, scenic 3 Capes Road. Nestled between Cape Kiwanda and Cape Lookout is the secluded village of Tierra del Mar. Tierra del Mar’s location on little-known, beautiful 3 Capes Road skirting the coastline offers a glimpse of the Oregon Coast of the old days: quiet, miles of secluded beach, no commercial establishments.

Within walking distance along the beach is a beautiful estuary; nesting area for countless sea birds and home to everything from herons and eagles to seals and foxes. At the other end of the beach is the rarely visited north side of majestic Cape Kiwanda. Awe-inspiring rock formations and punchbowl, tidepools, and an unbroken dune that descends from the top of the cape; for the price of a mouthful of sand, experience a wonderful roll down the dune from top to bottom!

I never knew how delightful a week in a quiet place could be until discovering the Pier Street house. The house is spacious enough for a large family but also a cozy space for two. The sound of the ocean can be heard from the balcony on the second floor which is a perfect space to read a book or to share a conversation. The beach is a short walk away, and you will find yourself in near solitude once you get there. If you want company, Pacific City is a short walk down the beach. Climb over Cape Kiwanda and enjoy a stout while watching others enjoy themselves. The house is well-equipped with the tools needed to make a variety of meals, various card and board games, a television and an assortment of DVDs, and a full laundry room. The beds are comfortable, and a wood stove is available to keep you warm in the colder months. While walking on the beach is beautiful and calming, the woods are just a short drive away if you need a change of scenery. —Mandi Seger
We had such a wonderful time at the Guardenia Street House! The place is warm and cozy and the crackle of the fireplace gives that pleasant soundscape to a winters weekend. There are lots of cozy areas to curl up with a good book, the large and well-stocked kitchen had everything we needed, and we loved the feeling of being surrounded by the forest - particularly the large back bedroom. When we did extract ourselves from the wonderful home we enjoyed walks in the low-key community of Tierra del Mar and on the large open beach. We had not expected Sitka Sedge Park which proved great for varied hiking terrain in the forests and excellent views of the estuary. We look forward to returning! —Kimberlee Chambers
I can give this place my wholehearted commendation. It is EXACTLY as advertised, and then even better.

Do NOT stay here if you desire "luxury digs" and fancy smanshy furnishings...
DO stay here if you want somewhere that is quiet, interesting, and restorative. From the interesting book collection to the carefully chosen melange of artwork on the walls, the cottage just screams character and presence.

The kitchen is the best stocked rental kitchen we have experienced, and we stay in a lot of places...the appliances and counters were a "nealy home" experience. The bathroom is nice, even though it is very small...it got the job done admirably.

We did not use the small bedroom, but it felt snug and homey.

We DID use the master bedroom, which is almost like a small sunroom cottage in and of itself! The bed is HUGE, and very comfortable. We slept well.

The internet service was the best service we have ever had at a rental, including when we have stayed in heavily urban environments. Should you be working online or utilizing the connection for entertainment (Netflix, Hulu, etc), you will LOVE the bandwidth and simplicity of connecting).

You will NOT be watching broadcast TV, for there is literally no service there for that...so the TV (it IS HDMI compatible, so bring a cord if you want to connect to your device) is merely the display for either online streams or DVDs...we simply never turned the TV on, huddled around our computer when we wanted to watch a movie, or just listening to music all day.

The walk to the beach is short and sweet, and very easy.

This is the perfect place to "rest yourself" when you want your highlights to involve the beach and the local environment. We spent lots of time exploring both...and then upon return found the cabin the perfect place to rest and relax.

The reservation process is simple, friendly, and trustworthy...the host is fabulous and straightforwardly accurate and honest.

If you are disappointed with your stay here, then you are just one of those humans who is never happy with anything, because it was simply perfect. —Charissa White

"I am very happy with the location, the house, the beach - everything. I'm already looking for dates in late summer to take my brother and his family for a nice long weekend! The weather was absolutely perfect and the drive there was beautiful. The beach was beautiful. I couldn't have asked for a better weekend." —Patricia Carlson

The property is extremely private and peaceful. It was clean, inviting and homey. The owner was so responsive to each and every question and email and phone call. The beds were extremely comfy. The heat worked wonderfully. Hiking North and South on the beach was wonderful. We hike over Cape Kawanda back to the beach house. We loved seeing all the bunnies. We enjoyed the sun room. We slept peacefully. We will be back.

This is our go to rental for the coast. Large, open, and relaxing house with access to a quiet beach. Decided to spend the Christmas holiday this year and couldn't of been happier. —Mark

The Guardenia Street house is a new favorite place to stay for our family of four! We loved everything about this wonderfully private house in the woods that is a short walk to the beach -- the best of both worlds! The house is lovely, with plenty of room for a big crowd. The bunkhouse became a favorite hang out for our teenager (the few times we weren't out enjoying the gorgeous parks, beaches, and sights up and down the coast). And, waking up "in the woods" in the fantastic master bedroom was the perfect way to start each day.

Of course, we need to say that Susy is great! Although we were nervous because this is the first house we've rented outside the major companies (Airbnb, VRBO, etc.), her communication was first rate. She was quick to answer all our questions and concerns. Everything went very smoothly, and we can highly recommend using her vacation rental system. Again, Susy is great!

The beauty of Tierra del Mar, the community where the house is located, is that it is quiet, private, and in the heart of every fantastic day trip you would want. We explored the coast from Manzanita to the north to Lincoln City in the south, and many points in between. There is to much to do that we could fill a book with our adventures. Some of our favorites included:
    - Oswald West State Park north of Manzanita (a must see)
    - Kayak Tillamook County trip to the Three Graces in Garibaldi
    - Oysters at Fish Peddler in Bay City
    - Dune climbing at Cape Kiwanda (seriously, 5 minutes south), followed by chocolate mousse and beer sampler tray at Pelican Brewery on the beach
    - Walking the beach at Tierra Del Mar (deserted most days!)
    - Cape Lookout
    - Bayocean beach
    - Geocaching all over the place!!!
    - and on and on and on...

    Hints:
Groceries - Chester's IGA in Pacific City (produce stand on the weekends is good); Safeway in Tillamook is another good stop.
Produce - lots of local farmers markets.
Bread - Grateful Bread bakery in Pacific City!!
Clothes (if you forgot to pack a jacket) - outlet mall in Lincoln City.

Again, we had a wonderful stay. Hope you'll have the chance to enjoy this amazing property and the beauty of the Oregon coast! —Nicole

Full disclosure- my wife and I love the Oregon Coast and are especially fond of Cannon Beach but let's face it, 3 nights in a hotel and 3+ days of meals at the restaurants is equivalent to a monthly mortgage payment. Plus factor in the crowds, potential noisy hotel neighbors and the fact many won't accept our 4 legged babies- Enter the Guardenia Street house!

Only 1 short block from an amazing ocean with literally a handful of people and you have our new vacation destination. The ocean is clean, big waves, and few people.

The house was spacious, clean, and had everything we needed. A Thriftway grocery store is only a few miles away for anything you forgot (The fried chicken from the deli is recommended) as well as a couple restaurants when you want something different. We made most meals at the house and the fully stocked kitchen had everything we needed.

Susy was easy to deal with and had everything in the house labeled for ease of use and provided lists of local attractions and fun things to do. She also didn't bat an eye when we asked if our 150lb (well behaved) St. Bernard would be allowed to join us!

Thank you for letting us into your home- we will be back sooner than later to take advantage of another "Monsoon" special.

    Sincerely,
Andrew, Karyn, Beasley and Ava Dog. —Andrew

We enjoyed our stay at the Guardenia Street house. The house was very comfortable, afforded easy beach access to miles of quiet beach, and worked well for us and our 2 dogs. Having a full kitchen was very convenient and it was a nice surprise that the grill turned out to be a Weber kettle meant for charcoal (always provides better flavor than gas grilling). The house is set up for a relaxing stay and includes games and some DVDs if you're waiting out a storm. For music the WiFi enabled us to stream Pandora. Altogether, the house exceeded our expectations and provided a enjoyable getaway location. Thanks —Mark Schreiber

We really enjoyed this home, four nights in December/ January. The weather was clear and cold, and the fireplace was wonderful. We had great access to the beach, everything worked in the home the way it was supposed to. They have a great selection of books, I would guess around 250 titles.
The master bedroom is huge, with windows all around, and two skylights in the ceiling, to lay and watch the stars on clear winter nights.

    Guardenia Street house
We just spent a week at Susy Wolfson's cabin on Guardenia Street in Tierra del Mar. What a great place for a beach vacation. The master bedroom is amazing.......lots of big windows that look out into the woods and provide tons of light even on a gray day. There are books and games for those times you might like to just sit and relax. The beach is long and most of the time we had it all to ourselves. Our Golden Retriever, Annie, was in heaven chasing balls and running on that beach. The town of Pacific City offers lots of good places to eat if you don't want to spend your vacation cooking. We recommend the Pelican Brew Pub for the food and view. The Mexican restaurant in town had really good food as well. Oh, and don't miss out on the Grateful Bread Bakery. Really good pastry and breakfast. If you want to go sightseeing there are lots of places both north and south of Tierra del Mar that are fun to visit. We highly recommend the Tillamook Cheese Factory for great and inexpensive lunches and of course their ice cream! If you feel like a day trip, we recommend traveling south to Newport and visiting the Oregon Coast Aquarium. Awesome! I spent the first 50 years of my life living in Oregon and visiting the coast on a regular basis and have been away from Oregon for about 16 years so we can't visit as often as we would like. Lots of things have changed and most of the bigger beach towns have grown a lot and there are way more people than I remember. However, we found that Tierra del Mar/Pacific City still has that funky little beach town vibe.
The cabin isn't fancy but it is cozy and comfortable and it's like visiting in someone's home. In our opinion that's exactly the kind of beach house that is perfect for a week at the beach —Patricia

We were very pleased with this rental. Super easy access to a very secluded beach is amazing, as is the shaded wooden trail that is over the ridge. Reminded me of our time in the San Juans. Accommodations very nice and relaxing. Great response from owner to any questions, very easy process. We will return!

A very comfortable house. Has the feel of a home rather than a rental. Nice spacious fully stocked kitchen made mealtime easy and low stress. Couches and chairs in living room are super comfy and invite one to snuggle down with a good book for the afternoon. Excellent Wi-Fi. Short walk to a beautiful beach. Short drive to trail leading to Cape Lookout (recommended!). Despite being close to the main thoroughfare the road noise is not noticeable at all. Beds were all comfy....and the windows/skylights in the master bedroom gives one the feeling of sleeping outside! Only drawback is a single bathroom/toilet means lots of coordination among guests. Excellent stay! —Michael Brand
This house is PERFECT! It's nestled up into the woods but only a block away from the beach. You can still hear the ocean from your bedroom. All rooms had skylights which allowed for viewing the full moon rising and passing over the house as we snuggled in for the night. The fire place was my favorite part of the house. I can't provide enough praise for how comfortable and convenient this setting was. I will be back often! Thank you Susy! —Sarah Martin
We spent three days during spring break 2015 at the Guardenia St. House and enjoyed every minute of it. Although the weather was changeable we took several, well timed, walks on the beach. The evenings were cool so the fireplace was quite welcome and we spent a lot of time lounging on the couches in front of the fire. Everything we needed in the kitchen was provided. It was great to just relax while the wind blew in the trees. —Sierra Riches
What a fantastic place! It was so quiet and cozy. We loved the fireplace, the easy walk to the beach, the rain on the roof. It was perfect! Thanks for making it such an easy place to feel at home while away from home. —Katie Walter
Wonderful!! Our stay here was very relaxing and enjoyable. The house was clean, cozy and backed up to a beautiful forest space. The master bedroom was our favorite part! It was like being in a cabin all to ourselves. The location to the beach was an easy walk and wonderful for our Fur person(Dog)! Pacific city and Cloverdale are very small but the people are friendly. The rental process was very organized and the owner was very kind and made sure it was a great visit for us. If you are looking for a wonderful, easy time away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, this is a great place to rent! —Carrie Onweller
This was the second stay at the Guardenia House for us. We enjoyed it so much the first time, we returned six months later. Our second stay was even better than the first. Good weather helped, but the house is what makes for a great vacation. It is the most relaxing pleasant place we have stayed on any coast. The owner has thought of everything, making the three days we were there pleasant and carefree. There are books, DVD's, games, WiFi, free telephone service, a complete kitchen, and much more. The place is very clean, well appointed, and comfortable. The back deck is great, a peaceful and beautiful structure. A short distance away is an outside table and bench. You can go there for lunch and listen to the birds.

The beach is a short walk away. You do have to cross the main road, but that was never a problem for us and our dog. Yes, this is dog friendly and he had the time of his life. The beach is almost private feeling. There were no more than four or five people within sight during out time. We were there Monday through Thursday, so I can't speak to weekend use, but I bet it is light. The beach is clean, perfect for walking and wading, and beautiful in all directions.

Food service is in Pacific City only 3 miles away. The owner has menus in a notebook. She also has a Things to Do notebook the helps make the vacation fun filled. This is part of the 3 capes drive and Cape Lookout and Mares are a short drive away to the north, and Cape Kiwanda to the south. Perfect location. The neighbors are quiet and friendly.

I'd like to keep this house secret, in a way, but must report that it's a terrific vacation home. —Roger Hansen
This is a wonderful house in a wonderful spot! Set in the woods one short block from the beach, the house has an amazing master bedroom, big windows and lots of skylights. It has a big, well stocked kitchen, and a lovely little kitchen patio, with a wrought-iron table and chairs, and a little arched gateway that is so pretty. There is an adorable little bunkhouse off this patio. The deck which stretches around three sides of the house has a nice bench all the way around. In the middle, there are some steps down leading to a path into the woods. At the end of the path there is a little alcove, with a wooden picnic table and four individual benches. Then to the side there are two Monet style benches. So CUTE! My husband enjoyed painting a watercolor of this idyllic view. Sunday of our visit was gorgeous, but cool and windy, so I was bundled up for our walk on the beach. Had sunscreen on my face and my big straw hat. But then as we walked toward the dune, it just made more sense to take my shoes off because of all the little streamlets running down toward the water. Made it to the dune, climbed the dune to the top and had a look out, climbed back down and walked all the way back barefoot. LOVED it. Such a great feeling. FORGOT that my feet had no sunscreen until toward evening they started to feel weird inside
my shoes. OH MY GOODNESS, you should see the burn! Ah, live and learn. We also loved seeing all the rabbits lining the walk to the beach each night to watch the sunset. Literally dozens of them. The last night we were there we saw a black bear crossing the road about 30 yards up from the houses. We also saw a sea lion frolicking in the waves. Such a happy place! The next day at the beach a women was playing with her two black labs. She was throwing little floating retrieving devices -- she had one for each dog. But the dogs didn't want their
own. They wanted the same one. We were laughing out loud watching these two dogs carrying the same stick with their muzzles side by side as they swam and scrambled in the surf. So much fun. If you get a chance to go here, take it!
    —Jane Dudik
We had a wonderful visit at this house and the beach. As soon as I saw the great big bedroom with the view into the forest, I knew I wanted to rent it, and it was exactly like in the photo. The house was comfortable, such a short walk to the beach, and a great place to relax. There were one or two small problems with the housekeeping but I'm sure they were one-time because there was a new housekeeper, and the owner was so responsive that I'd stay there again in a heartbeat. My only disappointment was I didn't see a bear. Darn! But we took lots of walks, went to Cape Lookout, and had a fun meal at the Pelican Brewery. Too bad we didn't have little kids or teens with us because the bunkhouse looked adorable. —Susan Reep
This is an A+ property, including the experience of communicating with Susy, the owner. Location is superb, just across the road from an excellent beach and a very short drive into Pacific City for meals or supplies. We visited several beaches along the coast, but ended up liking the one across the street from the house best.

The house is FANTASTIC! Susy has thought of every last thing her guests might need, and I've never seen a rental kitchen as well appointed as this one. We thoroughly enjoyed cooking some family meals, and everything we needed was there. I mentioned to Susy ahead of time that we wanted to use the ice cream maker, and she even had the bowl part of the machine waiting for us in the freezer, ready to go when we arrived.

Susy provides a great selection of books, movies and games, which kept our 5-year-old busy as a bee. While she preferred to sleep in the main house with us, she LOVED the bunk house! She loved using the cubbies to sort/store all of her things, and had so much fun playing and reading there.

The beds, pillows and furniture are all incredibly comfortable and we all slept great. The grounds are beautifully maintained, and we spent so much time sitting outside in the beautiful garden area between the house and the bunk house. We also spent time in the little sitting area in the miniature forest behind the house. One of the small things I really appreciated inside the house was all the lighting choices, including dimmer switches on many of the fixtures. Lighting is important to creating the mood you want, and Susy even had that covered! Truly, we never managed to think of a single thing we wished was done differently, or a single thing that was missing from our experience in this wonderful house--other than wishing it was cold enough for a fire in the fireplace, which would have been amazing!

Susy is a pure delight to deal with, which is the icing on a beautiful cake. You only have to talk with her once--and then see how the house is appointed--to know how much she cares about her guests. One way her care is shown is by the labeled cabinets and notes posted all over the house with information you might want. It's like Susy has anticipated what questions guests may have, and has proactively answered them by posting notes all around. An unexpected joy was reading through the years of guest book entries, which turned out to be a hilarious source of entertainment our first night in the house. Thanks for leaving those out, Susy!

In summary, I've stayed in lots of beach houses in my day, but this is hands down the nicest, most well appointed, most beautiful of them all. And the way Susy handles her business is top notch. You can't go wrong by choosing to rent this wonderful house. My wish is that every guest who is lucky enough to stay here takes the same great care of this house as Susy does. We loved our stay and so will you. —Melissa Snyder
Lovely getaway in quiet Tierra del Mar; we enjoyed exploring the coast from this house! Kids loved sleeping in the bunk house, lots of games and books to keep us busy when we weren't on the beach. Second bed was not great for 2 adults, but the bed in the master bedroom was huge! Ideal for one family, doable for 2. —Sara Yuen
This house has the MOST AMAZING master bedroom, 18 windows looking out into the trees. This is how you should wake up when you are on vacation. The surf was perfect for boogie boarding while we were there. Great house, lots of seats for everyone to rest after a day spent in the ocean and on the beach. We loved it! —Tammy Sheehan
The Guardenia house was a lovely place to stay in Tierra del Mar, Oregon. It is nestled in the trees which kept it cool while the temperature on the beach rose to an unbelievable 80 degrees. A quick walk to the beach access, made it extremely easy to watch the gorgeous sunsets. The kitchen is roomy and bright while well stocked with utensils, cookware, and appliances. IF there is something you need for your cooking, check with Susy before bringing it!
The beds were comfortable, even the bunkhouse beds! We were there to participate in the Labyrinth Network Northwest Labyrinth Festival (labyrinths were drawn on the beach). —Jamie Rossetti
Super grateful for our time at Tierra del Mar. All ideas of what this 4 day getaway in Oregon were above and beyond what we had envisioned! Easily walking down the lane from your Guardenia house and over the little dune and glimpsing the beachfront was like stepping into a dream! You were a pleasure to do business with from start to finish, Susy. You left no detail unaccounted for. Full bang for the buck! From the perfectly stocked kitchen ( it has everything and then some! ) to the extra linens, blankets, to the garden herbs which made it into my cooking, to the nice array of books and games, the drying rack and even hose outside to wash off sandy feet and messy dog, we were WELL provided for at the Guardenia house! The 5 of us and our golden retriever were able to thoroughly relax and enjoy all aspects of the gorgeous beachfront and of your comfy, cozy home. The pride of ownership and your obvious love and respect of 'dogs and their humans' as you so aptly put it, has made this an inviting vacation to both plan for and enjoy while there. Truly, truly recommend this to others seeking an ideal Oregon beachtime with or without kids or dog. Hope we can be back next year! Thank you! Lindy, Marco, Clara, Anika, Luke and Shadow the happy golden retriever! —Lindy Jankowiak
We really had a great stay at the Guardenia Street house. The location to the beach was excellent. We brought with us our 13 year old son and his 13 year old friend. They spent most days boogie boarding with stuff we rented from Moment's Surf Company. My son wasn't too bothered by the 57 degree water but his friend needed the wet suit and together they had a blast. The house is very quiet. Even though it is right on the main street, you don't even notice it because you are tucked in nicely among the trees. The master bedroom is very spacious and comfortable. And while the number of windows (I think my son counted 40) made us nervous about what the sun coming up in the morning would be like, the trees block the majority of that so it was a very pleasant and comfortable experience. There is an extensive library of books, movies and games to keep everyone occupied. I enjoyed reading two books on the beach that week. No TV, but with the wifi and all of us bringing our technology with us, we didn't miss out on anything. We were even able to connect our iPad to the TV monitor via our own HDMI cable we brought and watch HBO and Netflix. It sort of forces you to actually be on vacation and not let the noise of the world invade your dreams. We went to the beach everyday. It was a short walk down Guardenia, and we would drive our truck to the end, drop off the beach stuff (chairs, boogie boards, towels etc...) and then one of us would drive the truck back to the house and walk to the beach. It was nicer than having to walk with arms full of stuff but it was a short enough walk that it wasn't a big deal to drop off the truck and walk back. The boys stayed in the bunkhouse. It was a bit stuffy when they first got into it, but once they opened the windows and aired it out it was a nice place for them to have to themselves and feel like they were in a college dorm on their own. No Wifi coverage out there for them so they really couldn't stay up all night watching videos on their iphones or laptops, but they were exhausted from their daily wave fighting so staying up wasn't an option anyway. We cooked all meals except 4 in the kitchen which was a great money saver for us. And we didn't have any problems with finding stuff to use except for a pitcher for lemonade. We did improvise with a tea pot but other than that, we had everything we needed. Having to bring our own beach and bath towels was a bit of an inconvenience only in that we had to pack enough for 4 people. But it wasn't that bad and with the washer and dryer on the premises it was easy to clean off the beach everyday.
Overall it was a great trip and a great house. This was our first visit to Tierra Del Mar. We had no idea of the close proximity to Pacific City and Cape Kiwanda and actually the boys preferred to hang out at "our" beach instead of the more populated ones there. They felt our waves were bigger. We'll be back. Thanks again Suzy for hosting us in your house. —Paul Telenko
The master bedroom is heaven on earth and was truly a magical place to experience. We want to live there!!!!!! —John Colvin
We loved the Guardenia House! The house itself is gorgeous and spacious, particularly the master bedroom. The kitchen is well-equipped, there are laundry machines, and we made good use of the impressive selection of board games. The beautiful beach is a short walk away, and Pacific City is only about a 5 minute drive to the south. To the north, you get stunning scenery, wineries, and the Tillamook cheese factory.
Overall, highly recommended, and we would definitely come back. —Nicholas Lewis
In our opinion that's exactly the kind of beach house that is perfect for a week at the beach. —Patricia Maxson
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Guardenia St. house! We were able to find all the things we needed to be comfortable, cook our favorite things in the kitchen, and feel at home. We decided we'd like to take the back bedroom and deck home with us! We'll definitely come back again. Don —Don Thomsen
    Wayne & Jeanette —Wayne Houghtaling
I've been staying here since before I had any kids, as a gift from my nanny job. Now my oldest is 15! The house is always clean and welcoming. The skylights let you enjoy the ocean breeze moving through the trees, the rooms are cozy and the ammeneties are just what you need for a vacation:movies, games, fireplace and privacy. A quick one block walk to the beach, a magical forest complete with Unicorn Lake. I'm always relaxed when I leave. —Ingri Benson
Got to come here for my birthday this year (as a surprise - hooray!). This was our second stay here. Our first being for our honeymoon. This is my favorite spot on the beach, because it's in a nice secluded spot. And I love the house. I love that hardly anything seems to have changed in the last five years -- it made it feel even more like home :) I just love the master bedroom and can't wait to come back to it again. This visit, we went to Tilamook cheese factory, went to the beach, went hiking at Cape Lookout, ate in Cape Kiwanda, went to Blue Heron, and even rescued a dog who had ran up onto the highway. Speaking of which, I can't wait to actually bring the dogs next time we come visit. They are going to have such an awesome time at the beach. Anyway, we love this house, the hostess, the location, and have nothing but good to say about it. Thanks! —Marsha & Ashton
I have been lucky to be at both the Pier Street home and Guardenia as well...Guardinia has the most amazing view from the bedroom...the pics you see on line are true but it does not even begin to do it justice as how it feels just "being there" and waking up to that view...it blows the mind and then calms the soul...the deck is great and the home is beautiful and the fact that it is pet friendly makes a huge diff to me...very clean very homey very comfy very all that you want it all to be at the beach and have a home away from home. The owner Susy is great to work with and it all ends up feeling good. I go home a limp noodle as I am so happy and relaxed. I love the beach and have been at many places many many times (in northern California up to here- from Monterey Bay to Cannon Beach and then up to these homes in Tierra Del Mar) and this is by far the very best as far as good down home vibe.
    Lucky me for sure.

We have spent two weeks in this home, and we love it. It is very comfortable and clean. The queen beds upstairs are extremely comfortable, and the kids love the double bunk beds downstairs. The beach is just a short walk away, with no traffic or busy roads to cross. The back yard and covered back porch are great for our yellow lab. We really appreciate the large laundry room with plenty of space for hanging up wet things. This house is our "Home away from Home!"

We loved the view from the Master Bedroom. Beautiful... Just Beautiful. Thought the ice cream maker was also a nice homey touch! I have never made homemade ice cream, but I did when we stayed at Guardenia St. House. It was a hit! Thanks so much, Susy!

The Guardenia Street House was GREAT! The master bedroom was amazing and it did feel like we slept in the woods and woke up with the sun. The beach was just across the street and we could hear the ocean at night as we fell asleep. The location off the beaten path was great -- there were not a lot of people around on the beach or anywhere, but it was still close enough to Tillamook or Pacific City to allow us to get dinner or food to cook with it. The fireplace was awesome and we used it every night. WE were also able to go on a great bike ride. Thanks so much for sharing your great place with us!

This cabin is right across the street from a very deserted stretch of pristine beach and only a couple of miles from Pacific City, a cute town with great restaurants, gallery, store, etc... for necessities. The cabin itself is pretty basic, no frills, except for the master bedroom which is FABULOUS! Floor to ceiling windows, huge comfortable king bed and a walkout onto a great deck. The rate seems to be quite reasonable as well - peaceful place - I would definitely stay here again!

This was our second stay at the Guardinia Street House, and loved it......again! We love to wake up in the master bedroom surrounded by trees to set the mood for a relaxing day. The beach is wonderful because it is so big and gets little use. It is almost like having a private beach. The house was great, and only wish we could have stayed longer! Thanks for a great experience!

We have stayed in Susy's Guardenia St. House several times and this time decided to try the Pier St. house. The house was great for 3 adults and 2 kids. Loved the open space and the backyard. Beds were very comfy. Just remember to bring towels!!Thanks Susy, see you again soon..

Susy has created a friendly and welcoming home for guests. We found it to be VERY tidy and cozy, with such a wide selection of books (from childrens selections, to mysteries and popular fiction, to Poe and classics!). There are also a lot of games, so check in with Susy before you pack yours! We LOVED that the TV is not the central part of the living room. We found ourselves visiting much more than have when the families shared a house with a big TV. The beach is a very plesant/short walk, and it's a really nice stretch of sand and water. We saw a baby seal, rabbits, deer, and even some sheep on the road. It was a great place, rain or shine (we were lucky enough to have both), and the house had everything we needed (thank you for extra blankets and pillows :)

We spent Thanksgiving there (two families) and the teen girls loved having their "own place" with the bunkhouse. I usually like to find new places for adventures, but we liked this home so much that we'll surely be back in spring or summer, so we can enjoy nearby kayaking and hiking. Thanks, to, to Suzy for making it all EASY!
    —Anna
September is just the greatest time to visit Guardenia Street! The weather was perfect and the accommodations were great, as usual. We had long walks on the beach with our dogs, some great meals, quiet time and play time. It's always a comfortable place to relax and recharge. The addition of WiFi access was greatly appreciated!!! We've been coming to Guardenia Street for years and will continue to do so (Pier Street is a good bet, too.) Now, we're looking forward to a little storm-watching this winter. Thanks so much! —Ita Lindquist
A very nice home -- very comfortable! The kitchen has everything you might need to cook. The warm fireplace was delightful! —Sheila Bonczek
This was our third stay at Guardenia Street house in three years. We have spent five weeks here total and each one was wonderful! We've been in March, September and now October. All three visits have been amazing - the house is wonderful, this area of the Oregon coast is not bustling with tacky tourist shops (or tourists!). It's a great place to relax and spend time with people you love. And if you need a great meal, you can venture out to the nearby towns of Rockaway Beach, Pacific City, or Oceanside. There are plenty of places to walk in the woods around here too if you get tired of the beach (is that even possible?). And, if you come in the late fall, you can enjoy the wild huckleberries that grow all over the property.

We have come to think of this place as our home-away-from-home.

Lastly, Suzy, the owner, is wonderful! She's very accommodating and a pleasure to deal with.

You won't be disappointed if you stay here, but you probably will keep coming back.

Karen T. - Seattle, WA —Karen Therese
Thanks for letting us stay at your beautiful beach house. We had a blast! I love the beach. a rare section of sand on the Oregon coast. So close & really one of the nicer beaches on the OC. The master bedroom, wow! —Don Rife
We stayed at the Guardenia house over Thanksgiving weekend and had a wonderful time! The property feels private, quiet and cozy, surrounded by trees and just a block from the sand. The living room is spacious and the layout lends itself perfectly for gathering around the fireplace or dining table. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed. We had 8 adults, and everyone found a comfortable place to sleep and plenty of blankets to keep warm (the master bedroom with wrap around porch is incredible!). We didn't have any kids, but I can see how the bunk house is a real treat for those families that do.
Susy was a pleasure to work with, answering any questions we had, staying reachable by phone the whole time, and made the reservation process super easy. We were also welcome to bring our dog (for no extra charge!) and the doggie gate blocking off the mud room made it so easy to clean him up after a run on the beach, and keep him safely inside the house while we went in and out.
We can't wait to come back again in the summer, or perhaps make this a Thanksgiving tradition! —Aleksandra Rozga
AWESOME!! Had such a relaxing time at the house, on the beach and in Pacific City. Be sure to climb the Cape Kiwanda dune and look out for whales! We had awesome weather so we were able to enjoy the huge wrap around deck one afternoon. The master bedroom is huge, great space to wrap up in a blanket and read a good book. Plenty of kitchen ware - Susy has thought of everything. Very easy to reserve. I loved the kids bunk bed room which is like a camping adventure seperate from the house. Great getaway for a longer vacation or just a long weekend. Can't go wrong with this home. We hope to return soon!! —Dina Girgenti-Lida
This home was beautiful. The master bedroom has an incredible view into the woods, was nicely finished, and cozy even with the vaulted ceiling.

The decorations are all very tasteful and made us feel like we were in the most well furnished home on the coast. We truely appreciate the level of effort put into this home and would recommend it to anyone. —Michael Bowen
The Idyllic Beach House is just that. We have been to it twice this year in both January and September. It is located in perfect spot at the edge of forest, but only a block from the beach. The master bedroom is really large and looks out to the forest and has great skylights over the bed. The location is perfect for its quiet 4 miles of beach but only a few miles from Pacific City and its restaurants. We rented body boards and hit the waves there, and visited a lot of other great towns with easy day trips to Oceanside and its secret beach accessed through a tunnel, Tillamook and the cheese factory and air museum, Three light houses within an hour, and the Oregon Coast Aquarium. It was a perfect week, and Susy is a wonderful owner to deal with. Thanks Susy! —David Robertson
We love coming to this house! It's in such a great location and I love cooking in the kitchen. The dogs have a blast too.

    —Becky Engelquist
This is the best beach house rental I have found on the Oregon coast. The home is lovely and very comfortable. It is well appointed - the only thing we couldn't find was a corkscrew, so renters may want to pack one along. The deck and yard were a plus - we had one dry day, and we loved the outdoor space. The firewood was dry (a truly amazing thing at the beach!) and the fireplace worked beautifully. We loved this home and hope to visit again. Thanks, Susy, for sharing this jewel!

Visitors might want to check out the rock shop nearby - some amazing minerals and gems. Their collection of Oregon Sunstones was impressive, and they have some pretty (and affordable) jewelry. —Sally Tebbet
I have been coming to this house for so many years it feels like my second home. The bedroom facing the back forest is perfect for morning breakfast while the living room is perfect for nights or rainy days.

If you get tired of walking on the lovely beach a block away from the house there is an amazing selection of fabulous beaches a few minutes away. —Tami Katz
Thanks Susy for providing such a great house when we need a quick get-away to the beach. This trip was extra special because we brought Zee, our foster dog with epilepsy, to her knew home close by in Pacific City. It was really nice getting to spend our last night with her in such a dog friendly and relaxing place. She was at my side 24/7 due to her epilepsy and so it was especially hard for me to say goodbye. She has a new and wonderful forever home just right up the road. We spent the whole day at the beach with her new mommy and 4-legged big brother. We will definately be back to visit her and it is comforting knowing there is always a place for us to stay. See you soon!

    Cheers,
    Ashton & Travis

Ps. I love the updates to the house (especially the bathroom) since my last visit! :) —Ashton Larsen
Have rented from Susy several times now and always enjoy her houses. She maintains them well and is very accommodating. —David Beegle
Loved the Master bedroom/sitting room. Great place to sit in the morning with a cup of coffee.
Access to the beach was close although did have to cross highway 101 to get there.
    —Lynn Hughes
we had a wonderful time, It was a rainey weekend but we still found pleanty to keep us happy. The house was clean and well maintained and surrounded by woods which made it cozy and offered privacy. The beach is close and we had it to our self we flew kites and played fetch with our dogs. Thanks so much for sharing your house with us. —Nena Roy
We enjoyed staying at Idyllic Beach House in Tierra del mar Oregon. The house was surrounded by woods with the beach across the street. Although it rained most fo the trip we still had a wonderful time. They had lots of board games and the children played nicely (not like at home). The kitchen is nicely stocked with all the cooking untesils ,pots, pans and dishes you could possibly need. The Master bedroom is onderful Large with pleanty of windows and a deck for your morning coffee. The beach was great and there was no one else on it. We flew kites and played frisbee. The dogs to labs had a wonderful time running the beach and chasing sea gulls. The house has Wifi but no cable which we did not mind as we were there to enjoy each other and connect with out the everyday distractions we have at home —Nena Roy
What a great little house. Just the right amount of room for everyone to be together and so close to beach access! We did not have a chance to use the BBQ or fireplace this time around but we will definitely be back. Loved all the windows on the back master bedroom and the view of the forest was so relaxing. —Meghann Austin
We spent 3 nights at the Guardenia House over the 4th of July. The house is located on a main street that lead into Pacific City but is nestled in a woodsy and forest like setting which allows one to forget about the other side and to fully immerse themselves in the quiet and natural scene. Beach access was super easy. Walk out the door, cross the main street and just a few steps before you are in the small quiet beach of Tierra del Mar. We were thankful to have a quiet beach without having to deal with the crowds at Cape Kiwanda.

The inside of the house was cozy with lot of seating, books and games for people of all ages. I discovered the comfort and relaxation of a La-z-boy recliner and decided I had been giving them an unfair rap all of this time. I liked it so much that I'm considering purchasing something similar with my yearly bonus next month. :)

We had come prepared with our own blender, pots and pans as well as various kitchen gadgets but there was no need as the kitchen was fully stocked! I've stayed in several VRBO rentals and by far this place was the most thoughtfully organized and well stocked kitchen. (The ample selection of linens and blankets was much appreciated!)
The main bedroom was huge and surrounded by giant glass windows that had a beautiful view of the woods. It has a great big comfy bed, too. The wrap-around back deck was amazing. When we weren't at the beach or cooking, we were soaking up the sun on the deck with our dogs.

Susy, the owner was wonderful to work with. She was prompt and courteous in her correspondence and very flexible with our needs. My husband and I are already discussing our next return and debating between the Guardenia house or the Pier house.
Thank you Susy for a wonderful experience. —Sul Baek
Wonderful place very close to the beach. Was very roomy and comfortable for our two families. the kids had a blast playing at the beach and we all enjoyed just hanging out in the very comfy living room and the different decks. the place was great for our dogs as well. it was so nice to have a yard to let them run in, and great access through the doggie door which they figured out in no time. would definitely stay here again. in fact we are looking forward to our next visit!

Our family of 6 had a wonderful vacation at the Guardenia Street House. It is spacious, clean, private, and well maintained. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and appliances. The owner was very helpful, always available and responsive. There two bedrooms one very large and comfy and in the second one the bed was small for two people to sleep! We would definitely rent this property again - we enjoyed the trails and the beautiful Oregon Coast, which was very convenient.
    We mailed back the key.

    Thank you,
    David

Susy thank you, we very much enjoyed our stay. You have a very nice house,
it has a country cottage feel to it. It was very nice of you to
stock it so full of nice games, dishes, appliances, etc... gave it a very homey, friendly feel. And
the beach was quite nice, very pretty and yet nobody there. Thanks for a nice vacation, we hope to
    come back.

    Leo —Leo Shepsis
Thank you Susy for the hospitality your home gave us. We loved staying here, it was quiet and secluded. It was charming the minute we pulled in. We hope to be guests again with our family in the future. The home reflected the generosity and creativeness of its owner. God Bless you and your home and thank you for all the memories. A piece of our heart was left in Tierra del Mar. —Codi Lashyro
Overall a great place to stay and I would very likely stay again. There are lots of notes and helpful hints throughout the house. Tons of games and books which were very helpful since it rained much of the time. Wifi was a nice bonus for me. Either someone dropped off trash or the previous tenant left a bag of trash out next to the bin, which was gotten into by the local animals. The owner promptly sent someone out to clean it up :) This is the reason for the 'C' under cleanliness. The house was otherwise clean. A couple of minor things especially for first time vacation renter like myself... Include the shed access code to washer/dryer to avoid a call. The communication does say bring towels. You might include hand towels, kitchen towels, wash cloths as I only thought to bring bath towels. And maybe also mention to bring toilet tissue to avoid a last minute trip to the store. —Tracy Preston
Lucky us!! We were able to spend a whole month at the Gardenia Street House. We visited most of Susy's suggested points of interest and we were glad we did. The house has everything and more that you would expect in a vacation rental home: huge selection of books, games, puzzles, well-equipped kitchen, fireplace, lovely large wraparound deck, lovely bedding and bedrooms, eclectic decoration, in other words WOW! We hope to visit again soon. Susy is a joy to work with. —Marylu Perkin
This was our fourth time at the cabin, and we have enjoyed it every time. Looking forward to coming back next year. Very kid and pet friendly. —Mark Parrish
My husband and I had a great anniversary weekend at the Guardenia house in November. It is a lovely, private home tucked in the woods and only a short, easy walk to the beach. The master bedroom is huge and the kitchen is well stocked with dishes and necessities. We really enjoyed the fireplace which has a fan built into it that adds to the coziness (this was November after all). We didn't take any kids but the separate kids quarters with the bunkbeds looked really cute. We will definitely be back! —Barbara Wier
We celebrated our 12th anniversary and Valentines day at Guardenia House. Tierra Del Mar is a wonderful place to get away. It's a blink of an eye on the coast highway between Netarts and Pacific City. No TV, No cell service. No news. Just the most wonderful beach to walk and pet friendly. The house is filled with games, books, movies, total cooking items including sharp knives for easy food prep. Shopping just a few miles in either direction. And just in case you have make contact with the outside world (I don't know why) there is fast WiFi. Want to eat out? very good restaurants in Pacific City (los Caballeros) and Ocean Side (Roseannes). This is the easiest home to relax in with nothing the least bit pretentious just comfy. —Cal Bertram
We enjoyed good beach options at/near Tierra Del Mar, especially the Kiwanda dunes! The house is idyllic, just as described, with plenty of extras from kitchen gear to games and such. Fireplace worked well also. —Brian Strassheim
It was a great escape for us and our two dogs. TONS of room, kitchen is stocked with pots, pans, dishes, etc that you may need. Just bring food, charcoal and you're set. BBQ or cook inside if you need. Fireplace was great too, being able to come in from the cold beach and warm in front of the fire. Very relaxing and quiet. I loved the view from the master bedroom, TONS of windows to see the woods and watch the rain fall. Thank you Susy for renting out this place, you can tell it has tons of love in it. —Steve Trujillo
We enjoyed our time at the Guardenia Street house! It was so nice to have a place where we could bring the dogs and our children. The set up of the house worked great for us - everything was in the kitchen that we needed and there were even puzzles and books for our little ones. The beach was just a short walk away and very beautiful. We are looking forward to our next trip back! —Betsy Brownfield
We booked the house as a birthday surprise for my mother-in-law and it was a huge success. Our group contained people ranging in age from 5-70 and everyone thought the house was great. Our dogs appreciated the easy access to the beach ensuring frequent frolics in the surf. The neighborhood is super quiet as there are only residences and no businesses, but it's only 20 or 30 minutes drive south of Tillamook, and Pacific City is just a couple of miles down the road or the beach (five minute drive on the road or 30 or 40 minutes walking on the beach). The rental process was great and we were already talking about when we'd like to return before we even started packing to head home.
    Josh from Portland —Joshua Szurszewski
Very nice getaway. House very lovely and clean. Love the rain forest view from the bedroom, very peaceful. Everything available for a group large or small :) —Elise White
Great location (only one block to the beach) and lots of space for families looking to rent. Our family of four was more than comfortable, and we didn't even use the bunk house. The master bedroom is the best part; you feel like you are waking up in the forest. The kitchen was also very clean and well stocked. —Lisa Decker
We love this house! Its our second time in this house and it doesn't disappoint. Its great for dogs and nice to be able to bring along our furry friends. The TV upgrade was a nice touch. It was very comfortable and we very much enjoyed the deck and sitting around the living room when we weren't at the beach, which is just a short walk away. We will definitely return! —Glen Justice
My family and I recently stayed at the Guardenia Street house and we had a blast! The location of the house in the trees was awesome and very quiet. The time we spent in the house was comfortable and we were able to keep entertained at night by building the fun puzzles that were at the house. (We found some of the mystery pieces Susy haha) You could hear the ocean when outside. The walk to the beach was not bad at all. Just right across the street. The beach was quiet and enjoyable. We were able to take a lot of walks and see some seals and seabirds. When the tide was high the waves were incredible and thundering. It was basically just us on the beach most of the time and very funny that there was chaos on the other side of Cape Kiwanda with all of the surfers and beach goers. I highly recommend this property if you are looking for a quiet escape where you can enjoy the forest of Oregon as well as the beach without the craziness of the bigger beach towns. —Lindsay Nock
We wanted to find a relaxing place to enjoy our Anniversary, one that would take our fur-kids and we found it, thanks Suzy. Most places won't take dogs the size of our babies or their breed, so I want you (Suzy) to know how very much we appreciate you accepting our "kids" into your home. We all had a great time. Found it very cozy, quiet and tranquil, would definitely recommend your rental to anybody, as a matter of fact, we already have. Love how the house backs to the forest and that you can hear the waves crashing, so peaceful. Hope to make it to the coast again before too long and when we do we will contact you for reservations. Thank you!!!! —Brook Nelson
My wife and I, along with a little Brittany dog, absolutely enjoyed our stay at the Guardenia Street house. It is capable of housing many more people, but was warm and cozy just for the three of us. The Owner has thought of everything, it seems, even small extras that really make for a pleasant stay. The house is right next to the main road, but it is lightly traveled and didn't bother us. We did have to cross it and walk a block to the beach, but again, this wasn't a negative. The house is well appointed and very clean. There are books and videos and many extras to make your spare time pass by nicely. The master bedroom is huge and is almost a house within itself. It is cozy and looks out the back towards the beautiful wooded forest. There is a large wood deck surrounding two sides of the house and it is a perfect place to sit and read, or meditate. The layout of the house is good and comfortable. We will stay there again, I'm sure. —Roger Hansen
