    Local Attractions:
Off the Beaten Track...For 40 miles, Highway 101 turns inland between Tillamook and Lincoln City, 5 miles north of Pacific City and due west of Portland. But running along the coastline (and unknown to most travelers) is beautiful 3 Capes Road. Nestled between 2 of the majestic capes is the tiny beach-front community of Tierra del Mar. This is the Oregon Coast of the old days. Even at the height of the summer season, you can usually walk for miles without encountering another person.

The beach runs from Cape Kiwanda nearly to Cape Lookout, 8 to 10 miles of mostly deserted white sandy beach. Backing on miles of protected land, a walk in either direction on the beach passes nothing but natural bluffs and grasslands. A few miles north lies an estuary where you can spot everything from herons and eagles to seals and foxes. At the other end of the beach is the rarely visited north side of majestic Cape Kiwanda, where climbing the high dune to the top to view the spectacular rock formations and caves far below is an unforgettable experience.

Within 10 Miles: Unique dichotomy of utter seclusion, with no commercial establishments whatsoever, in Tierra del Mar with near-by Pacific City's (5 miles south) plethora of fun things to do:

Pacific City: Excellent pubs, restaurants, and shops in nearby Pacific City. Crabbing, clamming, fresh-water river fishing, boating, kayaking; deep sea fishing and dory boat excursions launched from the beach at Pacific City. Surfing, scuba diving, wind surfing, jet skiing as well as hang-gliding at Pacific City along with equipment rentals for all of the above.

On the quiet side: Two capes (Cape Kiwanda and Cape Lookout), each with their unique character. Bird & wildlife sanctuaries. Estuary and protected breeding grounds for birds and wildlife. Waylen Island State Natural Area. Unique whale-watching vantage points. Dunes. Lots and lots of hiking in nearby state forests. Surf fishing, clamming at Tierra del Mar's beach. Great biking (rentals available) along 3-Capes Road.

"Another lovely early spring trip to Pier St. and the weather was perfect. We introduced some of my family to the area and everyone had a wonderful time. As always, the house was spotless, comfortable and cozy. It was great beach-walking weather, too. Thank you for another terrific visit!" —Ita Lindquist
The house and location were perfect for us and we had a wonderful time. The fenced yard was very useful for our dogs and the home has a nice layout , which was great for family gatherings. It was an easy walk to the beach and very, very, low density of folks on the beach compared to other places on the Oregon coast that we've visited. Pacific City is close by for the store (small thriftway), pizza, brew pubs, gas, expresso, etc., and Oceanside, Cape Meares Lighthouse and Tillamook (Cheese Factory, air museum) are not too far away. We will return. —Ivan Thomas

We have stayed at Pier Ave. house many times and we will keep going back! Our two dogs BEG us to go to the beach. The house and yard are clean, comfortable and well stocked. The secure yard for the dogs is especially nice to have. The Wi Fi works great to get on line and watch your shows. We tried a new restaurant to us on our last trip, The Schooner, in Netarts. It was really good and we want to go back. We have also stayed at Gardenia House and it is great too. Plan a trip! You will love it. —Barbara Wier

Pier Street House is a well furnished, well located home that is comfortable and pleasant to stay in! The kitchen is especially well furnished--any cook would enjoy using it! The beach is very near and feels like a private beach. We had a delightful time! —Wanda Parrott

We had a great time at the Pier Street house! Only a few houses from the beach, it allowed us to take many trips during the day to catch a sunbreak, skip a downpour, grab lunch, etc. We were two families: 4 adults, 3 kids, 1 dog. A perfect fit for the house! The kids bunk room worked great and allowed the kids to get to bed slightly away from the main living room. The kitchen was well-equipped (I think the appliances are nicer than my own!), and the wood stove really heated the house up well! It was nice to crack the windows at night and hear the waves and get a fresh breeze. The gated laundry room and doggie door were perfect for our dog, though all he really cared about was the beach. It was his first time, and the beach is empty enough that we didn't have to worry too much about him running away forever. We had really temperate weather for January; I can only imagine how great it will be in the summer! We'll head back here for sure. Also, the gem shop across the street was a big hit with the kids. —Jenifer Daugherty

Very big house for the 3 of us, plus our dog, everything worked; really was a nice haven from the storms.
There was plenty of cut wood and the fire-stove made it cozy.
Really is a very short walk to the beach that worked out in the mornings for us and our dog.
Internet WiFi worked, but seemed to be a little slow if you wanted to stream a Netflix; but your at the beach to get away from that sort of thing. Otherwise good for checking email, since cell phone service isn't good for Verizon there, but you can go down to the beach and get a cell phone signal there. —Eugene Fifield
We return to Pier St. every year- it is a home away from home where we and the dog can truly relax, and so roomy that we can invite friends and relatives. The beach is just a few houses away and is one of the nicest and quietest stretches I've seen, framed by spectacular capes at either end. I like walking N. a couple of miles to the Sand Lake
entrance. You can go in one direction on a trail through the woods if you want- the access to the trail is from the beach just beyond the last house to the N.. After entering the access, take the first trail to the left.
The neighborhood is so quiet- we see more bunnies than people much to the delight of our dog! —Margaret Arighi
Wonderful property. Great location and a very short walk to the beach. The yard worked out great for our dog. The owner's communication was very helpful. —Greg Robbins
The house is on a quiet, private street, and is extremely near a very nice and expansive beach. With the windows open, you can hear the waves crash. The house is very comfortable, and worked very well for the five adults, two toddlers and a greyhound dog, who was extremely tempted by the rabbits that roam the neighborhood. The house isn't terribly luxurious, but it has more than you need to make a very nice time away from where ever. —Brett Rosenberg
If you decide to rent this house you will be in for a real treat! The house gives you many comforts of home with lots of peace and quiet if you so choose. The beach is unspeakably beautiful and nearly empty of the public. It is so long that we never made it to either end. We will return one day. Worth every dollar spent! —Molly Gill
Great place - will definitely come back. Loved how close it was to the beach without being too close! Had everything we needed and was nice and quiet. —Donna Baumann
My mother and I went here for Mother's Day. It's a cozy house, we had everything we needed. Susy's directions were clear and everything as described. Really nice little place for a getaway with the beach just down the street. Pacific City is 10 minutes away and there are plenty of places nearby for hiking and beach activities. —Carley Smith
What a splendid weekend at the beach! It was the ideal escape from the city heat and we enjoyed hours of walks, loads of bird life and sunny yet pleasantly cool conditions. As always the Pier Ave. house was so comfortable - love the new TV and it's great to have WiFi. Everything was shipshape when we arrived. We did some birdwatching on the back deck, too. Wish we could have stayed longer, but we hope to return in September. Thank you! —Ita Lindquist
We had five in our party, including an 87 year old grandma! The Pier House worked great for all of us. It was clean and well appointed. We ate half our meals in, which went very smoothly due to the appropriate dishes and appliances; and the other half out, because we could not pass up all the yummy place to eat in the area.
We played games on the huge dinning table with plenty of seating and elbow space ( often a problem for our group ).
One individual brought a few movies and enjoyed the TV.
Our walks on the beach were a bit cold, but I guess we cannot blame that on the home owners!
We did buy some spring salad mix to feed to the neighborhood rabbits, and that brought great joy to us all.

Thank you for a lovely stay, The Goodpasture Party
    —Laura Goodpasture
What a perfect getaway! So quiet and close to the beach, we will definitely be visiting again. —Michelle Kendoll
Great house, very clean. Would recommend to anyone. See the Rock man across the street. He has wonderful things to see and buy and he is very nice! —Vikki Gallagher
Great place. Close to a beautiful beach. Lots of things to do in the area. The house is comfortable and has anything you could need. We will definitely stay here again. —Kim Parson
Thanks Susy for yet another wonderful coast vacation! Three friends, three horses and two dogs took advantage of the Monsoon Special for a long weekend getaway... It just couldn't have been more perfect. Gorgeous weather sans monsoons...pristine beach...house with all the perfect touches to make it feel like home, only better. The horses settled in immediately at Crazy A's Horse Hotel just a few miles away. We walked and rode on the beach every day, splashed in the waves, cooked great meals, played games, slept blissfully. We stood outside and watched the sky and the ocean change color. We ate a huge breakfast at the Grateful Bread (of course!). Sam and Eddy the mini-dogs loved the backyard, the seagulls and the Beach Bunnies (AKA actual rabbits who hopped away just out of reach!). One afternoon we rode all the way south to the Cape and surprised a sea lion who then kept popping up to look at us from between waves. Can't wait to come back! —Deb Wolfson
For my husband and I's 4th wedding anniversary, we chose to visit the Oregon Coast. Susy was very helpful with every aspect of booking our time as well as going out of her way to suggest the Pier Street house for the convenience of our dogs that we would be bringing. In the same vein of dogs, she was very considerate of one of our three that is diabetic and waved the 2 dog maximum policy. It's good people that create good experiences, and this was no exception. The beach was breathtaking and the home was comfortable and aided in the feeling of vacation being a "relaxing" time (like it's supposed to be!). We will be back again, that's a promise! Thank you for sharing your home with strangers! —Krystal Brown
A wonderful house for a quiet beach retreat. We loved walking on the beach and took advantage of the bakery & restaurants in nearby Pacific City. The house was clean, comfortable, and the kitchen was so well stocked. We would definitely recommend this house to couples, families, or groups of friends looking for a relaxing beach vacation! —Sarah Curtis-Fawley
We found this wonderful place, IdyllicBeachHouse.com, close to the beach while looking for a quick getaway for the weekend. We were pleasantly surprised by the affordable price and the location. We were expecting to pay an exorbitant amount of money and found this treasure literally a few yards from the beach in a quiet part of the scenic Oregon coast. The house was spacious, clean and the easy beach access makes for some exciting treasure hunting. The town, Tierra Del Mar, is a quaint beach community within driving distance of boutique shops, fun restaurants, and scenic attractions that are perfect for the family. They are dog friendly and even provide an outdoor fenced space for you to sit with your dog and have breakfast or coffee. Susy was incredible to work with and made the experience worthwhile. We, and our goldens, look forward to returning. —Jean Nesta-Berry
We have returned to the Pier Ave. house on many occasions for its comfort, amenities and location near the beach in Tierra del Mar. This visit coincided with some of the most spectacular storm-watching ever! The wind, waves and rain all made it memorable. The waves were crashing over the top of Cape Kiwanda. When we weren't admiring the surf and storms, we were comfy and cozy in the beach house. Had some great birdwatching during breaks in the weather. So great to have reliable WiFi - we caught up on House of Cards and Bosch. It was a great break and we hope to return in late summer. —Ita Lindquist
We had an absolutely wonderful time at the Pier Avenue house. We loved the layout of the house, and the location was perfect. We were close enough to Tillamook and Lincoln City to take a couple of day trips, but Tierra Del Mar and its beach were quiet and out of the way and we spent most of our time there, especially on the beach. Being March, there was some rain, so we also had some time to play games, put together a puzzle, read, and just hang out together. Our dog was in heaven--she had never been to an ocean beach before and LOVED it. (She was happily exhausted by the end of each day.) The whole set-up was extremely dog friendly. There were eight of us, including three teenagers, so the one bathroom was challenging, but we made it work. Grandma and Grandpa (in their eighties) came with us--Grandpa never made all the way down to the beach, as he has knee and hip trouble and there is a hill of sand between the house and the beach that was difficult for him to navigate. All in all, we couldn't imagine a better place to vacation and we very much hope to return to this house. —Stephanie Adolf
This is a wonderful refuge from life in the city! We had the entire beach to ourselves and the house is set up perfectly for your four-footed friends! —Amy Thorud
Get location - loved the quiet beach. House great for our family with all the rooms. Nice having access to fenced yard for our dog and the laundry room for him to dry off in. Enjoyed getting to relax.
We'd do it again! —Karen Zaganiacz
Great accommodations and wonderful beach house. You will love the area if you enjoy a relaxing place to visit. Beach is wonderful! —Donnita Richardson
We have stayed at Pier Ave. or Guardenia St. more times than I can count. It is always splendidly clean, quiet and comfortable - a very welcoming respite from the city. September at the beach is always a treat and our dogs got a chance to run off some steam. Thanks, Susy, for offering your house and for letting us bring the dogs. We sure appreciate it! —Ita Lindquist
Thanks for another great stay at Pier! Four gals and three dogs settled in for a much-needed respite, lots of good food and wine and of course a pilgrimage to Grateful Bread in Pacific City. We enjoyed long walks on the beach both sunny and stormy, the ocean a different character every time. The dogs were so excited to play in the sand and chase teasing seagulls. The local bunnies are so accustomed to visitors they're almost tame -- one came hopping up to Catherine and stood, ears twitching, right at her knee while she was photographing its buddies. A new excursion for this group was to the state park at Whalen Island. The parking lot amidst sand flats gives no clue of what you'll see as soon as you step onto the hiking trail (nice, fairly easy 1-1/4 mile loop) -- you're instantly immersed in true Pacific rainforest with salal, shore pines, a thousand other plants this non-botanist can't identify, and at least 10 different kinds of mushrooms. We're planning our next trip already! -- Many thanks from Deb, Catherine, Kris and Makenzy (and of course Sam and Eddy the Chiweenies and Lacy the Lab) —Deborah Wolfson
This was a very quiet location for a late Fall get-away. Access to the beach is about half a block away and easily accessed. One morning, we were the only people on the sand for a mile in either direction - what a treat and probably something not found anywhere else but Oregon. There is a trail that parallels the ocean and goes north. It is protected from wind and well maintained. Our granddaughter loved the local troop of rabbits and enjoyed feeding them by hand. Pacific City is a few minutes drive south and offers a number of very good restaurants. Tillamook is a bit further and is our favorite destination for treats (especially the cheese)at the Blue Heron.

If you rent, keep in mind that one bathroom can be challenging for a large family! A big plus, though, is the pet friendly accommodations and secure yard area for a dog to explore. —Carolyne Filsinger
Pier St House was a great place for us to spend Thanksgiving. Our group was two couples and 2 teens. We loved the high ceilings and spacious feel to the house. The kitchen was well stocked and being a Brit I was very happy to find a teapot! The weather was pretty rainy so it was great to have the woodstove and a good selection of DVDs. The house was very clean and comfortable and the booking procedure worked well. All in all I can highly recommend it. —Tracey Harper
If you are looking for piece and quiet, Tierra del Mar is the perfect little out of the way community. My wife and I stayed in the Pier street house and it fit the bill. The house was clean and tidy and large enough for the whole family. We will definitely be back. Thanks Susy —Ralph Catoire
This is one of our favorite coast rentals- great for lovers of nature, a stupendous almost empty huge beach with picturesque capes at either end and a big, quiet, comfortable homey house. And dogs and kids find it heavenly! —Margie Arighi
Perfect get-a-away..travled with older parents..two dogs and a granddaughter everyone felt right at home..with a easy walk to the beach..we will be back..thank you for making our stay so perfect. —Della Beers
This was the perfect location for our shy dog! —Dave Royer
Advertised as sleeping 9-10 but with one bathroom, it would take some very crafty scheduling and management! ;-) —John Brown
We were very pleased with this rental. Super easy access to a very secluded beach is amazing, as is the shaded wooden trail that is over the ridge. Reminded me of our time in the San Juans. Accommodations very nice and relaxing. Great response from owner to any questions, very easy process. We will return! —Claire Viarengo
We had the most wonderful trip to the beach. Everything was perfect. The house was so convenient to the beach at Pacific City, and the Tierra Del Mar beach was short enough of a walk for our 2 and 3 year old! Our dogs were also in heaven. The house is perfect for a family with toddlers and pets. Very kid proof and dog proof. We had a blast. Thank you Susy. Story and Ellis left their heights on the doorway. We hope to come back next summer! —Jenn Stout
We had another splendid stay at Pier St. The rain was welcome after a dry summer, and the dogs had loads of things to inspect at the beach. There were some spectacular lightning shows in the evening, too. It's so nice to have the WiFi available! We were comfortable, cozy and caught up on some of our favorite shows. Everything was shipshape, as usual. What a great way to reduce stress! Thanks again for sharing your home with us. We always appreciate it. —Ita Lindquist
What a beautiful getaway! Not our first stay with you, but our first in the Pier Street House...which put us in dangerous proximity to the Rock Shop which of course has everything from petrified wood to opals. We spent hours on the beach enjoying the ocean's many moods; my (Carol) favorite at dusk with fog descending and sand swirling up so you can hardly tell where the ocean begins. The fireplace and lovely, comfy living room made evenings cozy too. Love the book and game collection! We're SO looking forward to our next visit. -- Ed and Carol

    —Ed & Carol
Another lovely trip to Pier Street -- it's our favorite beach house! Crack the window in the bedroom for the sounds of the ocean to lull you to sleep...haul out the DVD player after the baby is asleep for a cozy movie and glass of wine...appreciate the big open floorplan on the 1st floor and the washer and dryer are a MUST with a 1-yr-old in tow. We really appreciate the fenced yard and doggie door for our pooches, too. Instant 'mellow' as we arrive in Tierra del Mar, and we are already working on plans for a return trip! Thanks again, Jane —Jane
Loved the Pier St. house! Tierra del Mar is our favorite Pacific coast beach and your Pier St. house is now our favorite beach home! Clean, comfortable, cozy with all of the amenities you could want. Really appreciated the fenced back yard and doggie door and the abundance of kitchen ware to make hearty meals. The rock shop across the street was great and the owner fascinating to talk to. We are already looking forward to our next relaxing vacation at the house with family and pets! The owners are fabulous to rent from and they keep VERY nice rental homes both at Pier St and Gardenia in Tierra del Mar. You won't be disappointed!

We had a great time at the Pier St. House. We love the close proximity to the beach, the quiet of Tierra Del Mar, and of course the house itself. It is very comfortable and lends itself to groups big and small. We have been here many times and in all seasons and have always thought each time is special. We will be back. Thank you Suzy.

I LOVE both of these homes. In fact since I found out about them (years ago now) they are the only place I will stay when I go to the beach. They are homey, comfy, sweet, GREAT location and full of things to do (beach nearby, books, games in house etc.) The kitchen is fully equipt so I can cook a mean meal if I so choose to! Often we opt for the meal in house as we do not wish to leave the house (except to go down to the beach of course)!!! That should say it all! My dog Gracie May LOVES it at both places altho she prefers the Pier St. home with the back yard...BUT the Guardinia house has the most AMAZING view and is a wonderful place to be as well..almost zen like. Either way you cannot lose for sure. Dealing with the owners is a wonderful experience as well. Susy is wonderful. The beach is my home away from home as often as I can afford to go and these places always FEEL like my home away from home....it really does not get much better than that. BEST RESTAURANT IN PACIFIC CITY...Los Corporales...get the garlic prawns...dear lord...also I feel like I am dining with friends here...worst restaurant experience was The Pelican Brew Pub (and their motel was not a great experience either)...GREAT VIEW and great beer so it is worth it to sip some suds and check out the sunset at Haystack Rock but really bad service and poor food for the top dollar they charge. I do not mind spending top dollar but they really were sub par at best, and I have gone there more than once to give it another shot. Other than that PC is a great great town and just right around the corner from the houses we rent!
    SURFS UP!!

We recently discovered this wonderful getaway. This was our first time at the Pier Street house & Tierra Del Mar. I can say we will be back. Susy was wonderful to deal with & very helpful. The dogs loved being able to go out in the yard when they wanted being there is a dog door leading into the fenced yard. The facilities were excellent & clean. All you need to bring is food. The beds were very comfortable. Above my expectations but welcomed because of my bad back. The beach was great but we also discovered a long trail in the woods that parallels the beach just over the dune. Great for a Mt. Bike ride. During the weekdays the place was very quiet since very few people live there full time. We stayed in Feb. Overall a great place for a family vacation.

We absolutely love the Pier St. beach house! This last trip was our third visit, and we are hoping to go again very soon. The house is amazing, very clean and cozy. The wood stove keeps the house nice and toasty, and adds a lot of charm. It's a wonderful getaway from the city, and is perfectly located close to the beach. The doggies feel so at home and love having a doggie door big enough to fit them! The fenced back yard is definitely an added plus. Susy is very nice to work with, and always responds quickly to emails. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us. Until next time! Sarah~

We have enjoyed staying with you in both your Idyllic Beach houses; Pier Street and Guardenia. We enjoy and feel most comfortable in the Pier Street house. We have stayed in this house several times and we love it! The yard and laundry room are perfect for our dog. The beds are extremely comfortable. Susy is great to work with. The kitchen has everything we need to cook with. Such a wonderful home away from home. —Karen Stewart
We just stayed at Pier St. House for 5 days (Dec. 2011) and as always, it was a wonderful, relaxing experience. We try to return every year. Had great weather- sunny and no wind, and had some good clam digging at nearby Whalen Island. Our young lab loves the doggie door and running for miles on the empty beach (we saw almost no one). The sun poured through all the S. windows making the living area very cheery, even in winter. The house was spotless and the kitchen is well equipped (unlike many rentals). The neigborhood is so quiet and the beach so close it is impossible not to relax! —Margie Arighi
My husband and I were looking for a quiet place to stay and to bring our dogs to the beach. The Pier Street house was ideal. Susy was responsive and clear in her communication and clearly supportive of dogs. The house is modest on the outside but the accomodations were clean and comfortable. We really felt at home. The kitchen was well-appointed and we especially loved the mud room where the dogs could dry off and where we could wash our clothes on the last day. We also loved listening to the ocean from the master bedroom and how quiet the neighborhood was. We will definitely be back and would gladly recommend the Pier House for dog-lovers and families alike. —Lisa LaForge
Our stay at the Pier St. house could not have been more perfect. Everything you could possibly need on your vacation, you will find at this house.
Best beach location and secure backyard for our dogs, made our stay just wonderful.

We very much enoyed our stay. Great place for family gathering. —Sally Rahman
We had a wonderful time. So grateful for the fenced yard and the utility room really helped with dog (and people) cleanup prior to going into the living part of the house. The house was very comfortable and the kitchen fully stocked. A block to the beach, and my dogs and I were in heaven. We will definitely come again. —Janice LaJoie
The Pier Street beach house is perfect for a family vacation. It is just a short distance to the beach which was wonderful. The fenced back yard was great for our dog. We really enjoyed our stay and are looking forward to the next time! —Sandy Panek
We loved the location. Very close and easy access to a beautiful and uncrowded beach. Quiet and peaceful. Pacific City was just a short drive away. We had one meal at the Pelican Brew Pub, which was terrific. The house was cozy and comfortable and extremely well equipped. All we needed to bring was food, towels and our personal stuff. Everything else we needed and more was already there. We did buy some kindling in Pacific City, but firewood was kindly provided. The wi-fi was fast and worked perfectly. We streamed Netflix from our laptop and watched it on the flatscreen tv at night. We knew in advance there was no broadcast television. Not a problem for us. You can hear the ocean from the master bedroom--a lovely, relaxing way to be lulled to sleep. For us the fenced back yard and back door utility room entrance was the perfect setup. We really appreciated being able to bring our dogs. They had a wonderful time, and so did we. —Melinda Glover
So relaxing with no TV or cell phone service. I do have to say that it was nice to have internet connection though. I appreciate that everything in the house works - and everything you could need is there. All we had to bring was the food, which we brought too much of as always. We loved the short walk to the quiet beach just a half block from the house. Very comfortable accommodations and clean. We loved it and will definitely come back! —Debbie McNew
Superb getaway house that is 30 seconds from the beach. Susy, the owner, is very helpful and great to deal with. It is obvious that the owners put in a lot of efforts to make the house comfortable. The fenced backyard with covered patio was perfect for my dogs. The dinning table sat 8 adults and 2 children comfortably. I will definitely stay at the Pier house again.

great house, quiet neighborhood and very close to the beach, we had an excellent relaxing weekend, thanks! —Joe Stevens
One of our favorite coast houses - so homey and peaceful! Terrific beach and access- never crowded. Best equipped kitchen I've seen in a rental house- even has nice pots and lots of them! Lighting inside has been recently redone and is excellent. —Margaret Arighi
Once again, we had a lovely stay at the Pier Avenue house with our dogs. Susy continues to make improvements to the property (this time some updated lighting) and as always, provides patient and clear communication. This visit was in the off season and on our Sunday walk we saw not a soul for miles except an eagle and her young on the beach. If you are looking for a quiet place to stay, I highly recommend Susy's little slice of heaven. —Lisa LaForge
What a lovely, quiet neighborhood and wonderful house! Super cozy, fun to cook in and there were bunnies!! The beach was so close and the sound of it from our room was very soothing. The kids loved the bunk beds and we loved the long walks on a perfect, uncrowded beach. Thanks so much for the wonderful stay, we will be sure to come again. :) —Jennifer and Kevin Scott
The place was great. We really enjoyed it, was our first trip with our new baby, and so nice to be able to bring our dogs along too. —Benjamin Steinberg
We had a fantastic stay at the Pier Streer House. My three children enjoyed the bunkbeds upstairs and playing games around the large dining table. When it was raining the games and books came in handy and enhanced family bonding time. When it was sunny we walked the dogs on the beach or visited Whalen Island where we took a beautiful nature walk. Most of the time we felt like we had the beach to ourselves and even on Whalen Island we didn't see anyone else the whole time we were there. Next time we hope to get the chance to go kayaking or horse back riding on the beach! —Holly OBrien
This house was perfect - just the getaway we were looking for. We would love to come back again and stay longer next time. Probably won't be for a couple years as Pat's being posted to Ottawa for 2 years so we won't be back on the West coast for awhile. We will return once we're posted back to Victoria, BC again!

We just recently moved to Oregon from the East Coast and this was our first adventure for a weekend at the Oregon (West) Coast to celebrate our anniversary and husband's birthday! It was a great location - just a few blocks from a wonderful beach. The beach was clean, big, beautiful and almost our own (I think we only ran into 15 people the entire weekend and most were during a long beach walk to haystack rock (about 4 miles) near Pacific City and near a big sand dune. The house was clean, well appointed with games to keep our kids busy at night, movies for the blue-ray, etc. Our little Basenji dog loved it as well as she had her own little yard and doggie door and she finally decided she likes the beach too. I cannot say enough positive things, but to top it all off Susy is great to work with. She answered all our questions and guided you through the house and area with a suggestion of things to do, information about the workings of the house, and everything. We will definitely be back. Thank you Susy! (BTW I am sending a few pictures to you the kids made for you along with the other item.) —Debra Wilensky
We had a great week on the coast. The house was clean and very well stocked. My grandmother ran a rooming house on Martha's Vineyard and she had two apartments with complete kitchens. I know how difficult it is to make sure renters have everything they could need.

It was perfect for the dogs and the laundry room was large enough to fit the kennels. As the beach was so close, dogs and people got plenty of walks on the beach.

I have two young children and everything worked for them too.

I enjoyed my stay and plan on coming back next year. —Carrie Niemec
September in Tierra del Mar is the best time of year - perfect weather, miles of beach and the lovely Pier Ave. house to relax in! We've stayed here before, but with all the recent upgrades it's better than ever. We spent time in Pacific City, then up the road to the Tillamook Cheese Factory and the Blue Heron Cheese Factory. Long walks on the beach were much appreciated by dogs and humans alike. It is very nice to have WiFi at the house - thanks so much for this bonus! We will certainly be back soon. Maybe a little storm watching is in order this winter. —Ita Lindquist
I enjoyed the cottage and it was perfect for me and my dogs. Loved the mudroom and doggie door! The bed was very comfy and I slept great. I could hear the ocean with the windows open or when sitting outside on one of the decks. There are lots of books and games too! It's just a short stroll down to the beach. What a great beach! Didn't see very many people and there was plenty of sand to walk on even during high tide. Pacific City is just a short drive for fun and food and people watching. We drove up to Munson Falls and that was lovely as well. There is a state park nearby - Cape Lookout. Interesting drive past the sand dunes in the forest and up the hill to the rainforest and then down to the park. Nice picnic tables right on the ocean (day use fee of only $5). The weather was great and we had a really nice time. —Nancy Creighton
All went well at the house for my family. It is well stocked and convenient to the beach.
Who can control the weather?...It was very clam and no wind for several days....I took my own beach chairs down to the beach. And then it rained which made it nice to have access to WiFI. There is a large huckleberry bush on the front yard. It had a load of berries...(September).
    kn —Karen Nielsen
Susy, we love this place. Now that we've been here twice, it feels like "our" place too. Humans and canines love it alike, and the beach is so fabulous, almost like our own private beach. Thank you for sharing! —Selene Jaramillo
We had a wonderful time and the facilities were very comfortable and accommodating. The beach as amazing…so clean and an easy walk to the end of the street. The rock shop across the street was very interesting. A short drive to the Pelican for dinner on the beach was great!
    —Kathie Robison
This was a great home to rent for our family. It had such a safe access to the beach and the grandchildren could run to the sand and we had no worries, except for those "wild rabbits". What fun.

It was a perfect place to finally have a family vacation and it went perfectly. We just got the pictures back and I'm going to make copies for each family.

Thanks again for your perfection in renting. You made us very happy.

We usually stay at the LaGuardia house, but that was booked so we stayed at the Pier Street House instead. Twas nice and quiet and well appointed. We were nice and cozy and had an amazing 4 out of 5 days of sun for lots of beach walks. Now we'll just have to decide which house to stay in on our next trip - they both have so much to offer! —Karen Therese
We spent this past Thanksgiving at the beach house and were very comfortable and pleased with the property. The short walk to the beach was awesome and the beach was absolutely beautiful. We could not have asked for better weather! The kitchen was well furnished so that we could make a complete Thanksgiving dinner to enjoy. My husband loved getting up and starting the wood stove each morning so we really appreciated having all that wood. The fenced backyard provided a secure place for our dogs, One late afternoon we did the Cape hike and what a spectacular hike that was. The views and scenary were well worth it. Thanks Susy for providing a wonderful home for us to enjoy. The Peters/ Steamboat Springs, Colorado —Bart Peters
We found this place very interesting due to the location particularly the quietness and so much of nature i.e. birds and small animals. It was comfortably furnished and homey. The fenced yard made it handy for our dogs. The nearness of the beach was a welcome convenience . We loved our stay. Chuck and Norma Pfeiffer —Norma & Chuck Pfeiffer
Our stay at the Pier Street house was ideal. The house is very clean yet comfortable with updated appliances and a very cozy wood burning stove. The backyard is nicely fenced in for the pooches and has a lovely covered deck. The beach is half a block away - is very easy to get to with great views of Cape Lookout to the north and Cape Kiwanda and Haystack Rock to the south. Pacific City and great beer at The Pelican are only minutes away.

Everything about the house was comfortable. We had a great sunny day for beach going and a stormy day for the fireplace, movies, and puzzles. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with plenty of blankets I'd you are like me and like to sleep with the windows open for that fresh ocean air. Cooking was a breeze with the new appliances.

Communication was made easy. Suzy is a quick communicator and provided clear information on everything from check in/out, directions, house info, and area attractions. This was so much easier and nicer than dealing with a rental company.

I look forward to my next stay! Thank you, Susy, for providing a relaxing beach home for my families spring beach vacation! —Sarah Martin
We loved staying at Susy's beach house. It's perfect for our family. I like how the kids room is next to the master bedroom. The layout of the home is great and very open. We had everything we needed. We will be back. Thank you! —Mia Clark
Comfortable, family-frirendly and dog-friendly home. Love the whimsical decor and well-equipped kitchen (Bosch dishwasher and Jenn-Air range made preparing and cleaning up meals easy). The securely fenced back yard was a great place to let our Labs out safely, and being just a block from the beach was great for all of us. Pier Street appears to be one of the nicer streets in Tierra del Mar, with some newly renovated places. Pacific City is just a few minutes away if you need anything, and there's lots to do locally. —Genevieve Long
We had a wonderful time at the Pier Street house. Tierra Del Mar is such a beautiful beach and so quiet. We practically had it all to ourselves. Cape Kiwanda is a very short drive to the south, we hiked up the big hill, took in the view, explored the tide pools and our son and his friend walked back to the house via the beach. So beautiful. Also loved spending time in the trails just north of the house. So many shades of green this time of year. The house is so cozy and fully equipped with everything we needed. Thank you Susy! We will be back I'm sure. —Christine Fuller
Susy, thank you so much for having this wonderful property! We felt that we had a home away from home. It was very clean. All the dishes and the well-equipped kitchen was a joy to have. The quiet surroundings was so peaceful to the body and spirit. Anyone that we happened to run into was very welcoming and friendly. Despite the fact that I was not feeling very well, we had an awesome mini vacation. The dogs had such a wonderful time and enjoyed snoozing in their beds without the sounds of traffic and other noises from the city. We relaxed and enjoyed not having work demands and ringing phones. The beach was fantastic!! We haven't seen our dogs have so much fun in an long time. We would love to visit again and even try out the Gardenia House next time. Thank you so much for having this property available. We would recommend it to anyone we know.

The Kleijnen family —Lilian Kleijnen
Thank you for our lovely vacation, we really enjoyed our stay in your house. We will miss sitting at the dining table watching deer walk down the street in the evening and bunnies eating breakfast. The short walk to the beach was really convenient, especially with an infant. The securely fenced backyard worked really well for our dogs. There aren't a lot of places that cater to the needs of a family with an infant and two dogs, but your house worked great for us.
    —Cassandra Seney

It is apparent that the home is well maintained and cared for, which does make the house feel welcoming and comfortable. September is the most wonderful time to visit Tierra del Mar! We had miles of open beach, blue skies and terrific weather. The Pier Street house was better than ever - new futon, new reclining sofa (so comfy) and a fully equipped kitchen. It was home-away-from-home. We are always grateful to be able to bring our dogs along, a golden retriever and Labrador retriever. It was especially poignant this year: our black Lab has lymphoma and this was likely his last beach trip. He bounced around like a puppy and enjoyed his (short) walks to the beach so much. We will be back, of course! This is a great base for activities in and around Pacific City, too. —Ita Lindquist
