Welcome to The Lakeside Caboose, located in beautiful Rockaway Beach! Nestled in between Lake Lytle and the Pacific, this bright and airy cabin was historically the last house on the edge of Rockaway's city limits, inspiring its name, The Lakeside Caboose.
The home sleeps up to eight guests in three bedrooms downstairs (King, King w/bunk beds, and a Queen) with two full bathrooms. Upstairs, you will find an inviting open space with amazing views of the lake to the east and the ocean to the west.
The kitchen and living room are also located on the second floor, with a half bath tucked off to the side. The cabin was completely remodeled in 2019 but still retains some vintage charm with a 1950's era stove in the farmhouse-inspired kitchen. We have binoculars available for whale watching, or you might even spot the resident Bald Eagles that nest on the far side of the lake.
While staying in Rockaway Beach, be sure to get out and explore the shops and restaurants located right off of Highway 101. You'll be able to find the perfect souvenir for friends and family back home. You can also explore the beach or go fishing in the lake, so bring your fishing gear!
Travel north into Seaside, and explore the beautiful boardwalk, or travel south into Tillamook for a tour of the factory where they produce delicious dairy and beef products.

My family and friends enjoyed the Lakeside Caboose vacation rental at Rockaway Beach. The house was well appointed with new copper pans, and had everything we needed for homemade meals....minus the food. We loved from views - the Pacific Ocean and from Lake Lydel - both of them from the living room. The safe-path from the house welcomed beautiful kites high above above, as we looked for treasures along the sand. The 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms allowed our mixed group to be successful, with space for everyone. The kitchen was full of light and full of laughter as we cooked and ate an amazing meal! A 8-block walk to downtown Rockaway was easy. We enjoyed a nice breakfast at Grumpy's cafe. We had a very nice time here, and look forward to returning to the "Caboose." We hope to make it to "Bingo Night," at the Lyons Club next time. I've heard that it's fun for all ages! —JP

Great location, a block from the beach/trail, and super easy lakefront access!! Great set up with sleeping quarters downstairs, living space upstairs, and bathrooms on each level! I think every decade from the 40's till now was covered in some fashion with appliances/furniture/decor! I loved it! Kitchen is very well stocked and personally I loved the "vintage" appliances, cookware and gadgets (work better than today's mass production!) However, if you are used to teflon cooking, might want to bring some pans. The bed in the "master" was insanely comfortable! Supportive, but felt like I was sleeping on a cloud! Short of a crockpot, there was NOTHING we needed we couldn't find in the house! Sand toys, marble run and lots of games to entertain on rainy days! Last minute booking when our planned rental found termites. Julie worked on her day off to assure we had everything we needed. She was genuinely friendly!
