Welcome to Sona Tra, a classic 3-bedroom, oceanfront beach house with designer upgrades in quiet Arch Cape, just 10 mins. south of Cannon Beach. This charming, well-equipped home is dog-friendly, family-friendly, and boasts captivating ocean views, easy beach access, and a game room the whole group will love!

Ideal Location in Arch Cape
It's easy to see where Sona Tra (a Gaelic expression meaning "Happy Beach") got its name. Tucked in a calm, quiet community between two popular beach towns --- Cannon Beach to the North and Manzanita to the South --- Arch Cape is perfect for families looking to avoid the crowds but stay within close range of beach town attractions like cafes and restaurants, boutique shops, and art galleries.

This oceanfront home's low bank access makes Sona Tra a rare treat in every season -- from storm watching and whale watching in the winter to tide-pooling and sunset waterfall picnics in the summer.

Inside Sona Tra
Inside, you'll find a blend of classic beach house style and French Provencal design, with natural beach hues and textures reflecting the rugged and elegant beauty of the Oregon coast. The spacious, open layout encourages relaxation and togetherness, with comfortable furnishings, modern amenities, and incredible ocean views from its many vantage points.

Primary Bedroom -- Upper Level:
Rest easy in a plush king-size bed in this loft-style bedroom (no privacy door). French doors lead to a private glass-wrapped balcony with panoramic ocean views. An additional East-facing balcony overlooks the mountains. Enjoy the privacy of an en suite bath with a dual vanity and shower/tub combo (completely updated winter 2020 - new photos coming soon).

Guest Bedroom -- Main Level:
This calming bedroom includes a comfortable queen-size bed, soft lighting and ample closet space. The second full bathroom is right across the hall and includes a walk-in shower (also renovated winter 2020 - new photos soon).

Guest Bedroom 2 -- Main Level:
The kids will love this spacious bedroom tucked between the laundry room and the garage which doubles as a game room. The room sleeps four in two twin beds and a twin daybed with a trundle and includes a cable flat-screen TV, DVD player, and Nintendo Game Cube.

Living Spaces:
With picture windows framing the ocean and comfy furniture surrounding a wood-burning, stone fireplace and a cable flat-screen TV, the inviting, open living room will be the go-to spot for relaxation.

The kids and pets will love playing in the big backyard when not at the beach. And if the weather turns, there are plenty of board games and Ping-Pong in the garage to keep the group entertained.

Kitchen & Dining:
The impressive, fully equipped kitchen features granite countertops, state-of-the-art appliances, and a gorgeous stone accent wall. With its open layout, the cooks can still chat with the group while prepping dinner.

Take in incredible ocean views from the open dining room with seating for eight. In the warmer months, fire up the gas grill in the backyard and enjoy alfresco meals at the picnic table while listening to the waves crash.

A bounty of beauty awaits within a 5-20 minute drive -- from hiking the Oregon Coast Trail, visiting iconic Haystack Rock, kayaking in Nehalem Bay, and taking in breathtaking views from Neahkhanie Mountain.

Things to See & Do

Local Attractions:
Arch Cape, Oregon is a beautiful place to relax and is less populated than the neighboring towns of Cannon Beach and Manzanita. Visitors can enjoy wandering along the peaceful, serene Arch Cape beach while exploring interesting tide pools, caves and a waterfall as well as hiking nearby trails. This town is perfect for those seeking relaxation but also a chance to explore the natural beauty of the cape. Curious what else Arch Cape offers? Here are a few ideas:

Explore ~ Just north of Arch Cape is Hug Point State Recreation Site, a designated Oregon state park. The sweetly named area earned its title when early explorers had to hug the rocks to make their way down the coast at low tide without getting wet. Hug Point has picnic tables and restrooms, so you can make an afternoon of it with a packed lunch, Frisbee for the dog, and kites for the kids!

Go hiking, explore the coastline, peek into tidepools, or visit one of the area’s art galleries. We’re happy to recommend something you’ll like!

Dine~ Guests in our Arch Cape vacation rentals often ask for restaurant recommendations. Drive 10 minutes up the coast and you’ll find anything you’re in the mood for! Here are a few restaurants in nearby Cannon Beach:

  • The Wayfarer: Excellent seafood, ambiance, and views of Haystack Rock
  • Pizza a’Fetta: Hand-tossed pizza, Italian wines, and slices to go. Voted one of the top 50 pizza restaurants in the nation.
  • Sweet Basil’s Cafe: Organic, vegetarian, and gluten-free options
  • Bill’s Tavern: Beer, burgers, fish & chips
  • Driftwood Inn: Good clam chowder, sunlit patio for al fresco dining
  • Seasons Cafe: Sandwiches & salads; vegetarian-friendly, gluten-free options
  • Public Coast Brewing: Restaurant & pub with sports on TV
  • The Irish Table: Perfect for a special dinner. One of the top restaurants along the coast!
  • Sea Level Bakery: Great coffee and French pastries Evoo: Watch the cooking show while you wine and dine on a culinary feast

Relax~There are many things to do in Arch Cape, Oregon near the ocean. The ocean is inspiring — try your hand at photography, poetry, or meditation. For a relaxing night in, stop in one of Cannon Beach’s gourmet grocery and wine stores. Note: There are no grocery stores in Arch Cape. It’s totally residential, which means fewer crowds for those who prefer seclusion. Pick up some wine, cheese, and chocolate for a French-inspired picnic by the fireplace (or on the beach if it’s warm!). On stormy days, curl up with a novel or throw a board game night. A simple stroll on the beach is always soothing, even when it’s drizzling.

Nearby~ While there are endless things to do in Arch Cape, Oregon, there are also many nearby attractions that are worth checking out. When you’re feeling rejuvenated and ready for excitement, head to Cannon Beach to see fine art, splurge at one of the shops, or savor a fancy meal. Go for a horseback ride, dig for clams, fish, or explore one of the state parks nearby. And of course snap some photos by Haystack Rock!

"Excellent property right on the beach in quiet Arch Cape. An older beach house that has been renovated and updated with high quality furnishings bedding and kitchen supplies. Cuisinart Breville etc. Great open space in main living area nice separation with none of the 3 bedrooms right next to one another. Nice touches like a supply of puzzles books kids and adults sand toys and beach chairs made it easy to just show up and relax. And the service was great we took advantage of their grocery shopping service and appreciated the email after our first night checking in to see that we had everything we needed. Loved it." —Jennifer F

"A blissful four days ended too soon. The location alone makes this a magical spot Arch Cape is a bit off the beaten path away from the crowds at Cannon Beach but close enough to Cannon Beach that its easy to pop in for lunch dinner and groceries. The house itself is immaculate and very very comfortable. Weve had some less than stellar experiences at other properties recently and are pretty picky so this place was a welcome change. Aside from the location and crazy views the house was just right. Did I mention I mention it was immaculate. It was also very well equipped kitchen was well set up and functional wifi was excellent towels galore and the king bed upstairs was super comfortable. Property management was helpful but unobtrusive. All in all it was a perfect stay and we hope to be back." —stephanie w

"My husband and I stayed here in late September. The stay was wonderful and we anticipate coming back to Sona Tra in the future. When we vacation we want to feel the luxuries of home and then some Sona Tra met every expectation. The highlights LOCATION. The location is perfect It was quiet peaceful and secluded. We had the beach to ourselves most of the time. It is in close proximity to Cannon Beach and Manzanita so you still get the benefit of some shops coffee and food our favorites were Manzanita News Espresso and Sea Level in Cannon Beach. Sona Tra is also right next to Oswald West State Park check out the tide pools. PROPERTY The house and property were as described. The furnishings are higher end and the property was very clean. It does have a few elements that are not updated but are in impressively good shape It still felt very clean. The pillows are to die for I actually looked them up and purchased some for at home I havent slept that good for 3 years which may be due to my toddlers but Im attribute at least 75 of it to the pillows. The kitchen is fully loaded blenders counter top mixer and I think there was even an instapotrice cooker. The best part by far though was the master bedroom. There is a balcony on one side looking inland and a balcony looking over the ocean. Both are stunning Keep in mind the master is upstairs and there is no door. PROPERTY MANAGMENT The instructions we received were clear access to the property was easy and they checked in once we arrived to make sure everything was satisfactory. No complaints here. HIGHLIGHTSSUMMARY Hands down we would come back to Sona Tra. We didnt bring the kids this time but being in a less populated area it would be a great location to bring them. The house is very kid friendly we even noticed some gaming systems lots of DVDS kids books etc. It was also great for a couples getaway." —Amy R

"This home couldnt be better located on the beach. And the while the views are awe inspiring the thing that really set this home apart from others we have stayed at is how truly clean it was. For a house that allows dogs it was remarkable. I would give the clean rating 10stars if I could." —Peter Z
