Nicely decorated and clean house that was updated. Lots to do for young and old with plenty of space both in the house and outside in the huge fenced yard. Comfortable beds. —Julie L., Brush Prairie, WA

Overall great stay! Property is as described in listing and clean, clearly a recent update. The extra refrigerator in the bunk room is a big plus as are the two TV's.
Even though we didn't bring ours on this trip, the huge fenced back yard is great for dogs.
We did have one issue on our first night when the well water pump died due to a running on toilet while we were out to dinner, but property management was quick to answer the phone and had a guy out in 20 min. He couldn't fix it due to locked up pump but came back with some jugs of water so we could at least flush toilets. Plumber was out at 8:30 the next day (a Sunday!) and water was up and running by 10:30. Managemant was great with responses and keeping us updated with status so they still get 5 stars.
The only other issue is in the half bath there is no "P" trap on the sink drain (code violation?!) so you can hear all the other drains running. I'm sure this will get upgraded soon, right property managers?
It seems like it is kind of far up the peninsula looking on a map, but your only 5 min from Ocean Park.
I'd definitely stay again and would highly recommend to pet owners. —Jeff F., Monroe, WA

It can be hard to find a place to getaway that fits our family of six comfortably, but The Great Escape was perfect for us! We appreciated the half bathroom in the master, as well as the amazing memory foam beds (the most comfortable bed I've slept on in years). The other two bedrooms had comfortable queen size beds for our teenagers, and our two younger kids enjoyed sleeping on the bunk bed and futon in the playroom. If you are staying during the colder months, the playroom can run a little cool, especially for younger kids. The toys, games, and streaming services provided were a hit with all of the kids, while the adults had fun listening to the record player. The house was wonderfully updated, clean, functional, and well stocked. The kids and our two dogs loved exploring and playing in the large, fenced back yard.
We typically stay in Long Beach, but we appreciated the quiet and space at this home. It was less than a five minute drive from the beach, stores, and restaurants in Ocean Park.
We are already looking forward to staying here again! —Recent Guest, Scappoose , OR

Spent the past weekend here with my children. Lovely remodeled home with the garage converted to a kids dream play den. Even had little ride on toys for my toddler:) Beds were very comfortable and the home was well equipped with everything we needed. Also had a guest book with all the local eats and entertainments which was very cool and helpful! We will definitely be coming back to stay at "the great escape" the next chance we get to visit the beach! —Sarah T. from Battle Ground WA

The two of us, with our dog, stayed here for five weeks while our home is under renovation. Nice property; everything is new. BIG fenced yard, which our dog loved. You can see the horses across the road. I bought a couple bungee cords at Jack's Mercantile in Ocean Park to secure the large gate on the side and the small gate by the garage. If you have a small dog, do a perimeter check of the fence to make sure there aren't gaps or holes the dog could get through.
The beds are comfortable and there is a king bed in the master bedroom along with a half bath. Nice set of pots/pans and other kitchen goods. Record player in the living room and speakers attached to the TV. The attached garage was converted to a game and kid's room with another large TV, foosball, video game, dart board, kid's toys, bunk bed, and furniture. An extra fridge/freezer is in there also, along with washer & dryer. Overall, the house was very comfortable and we would stay here again.
Two miles away or less, there are restaurants, Okie's Thriftway grocery and Jack's Mercantile (grocery, housewares, hardware store, gas station), and main beach at Ocean Park.
Just north of the house Oysterville, also with a nice beach. Long Beach, WA is 12-15 minutes south.
Several doors north, don't miss Willapa Artisan Kitchen, where you can buy chowders, smoked oysters, Dungeness crab mac & cheese, etc ().
Adrift Distillers in Long Beach has several great items, which can be purchased in their tasting room.
Costco, Fred Meyer, Petco, Walmart, etc. are 45 minutes south in Astoria/Warrenton (having that extra fridge/freezer helps).
Cape Disappointment is just south of Long Beach in Ilwaco (where the Columbia River meets the Pacific Ocean) where there is a lighthouse built in the 1850's, and old fort, light hiking, and beautiful views high up on a bluff. —Lisa K., Kirkland, WA United States
