In Seal Rock, located between Newport and Waldport on the Central Oregon Coast, Whimsy Cottage is a private and quiet retreat with ocean peeks from inside or from the deck. The Cottage is only a block away from Luna Sea Fish House, Indulge Sweets, and Seal Rock State Park with beach access where you can experience the best low tide beaches on the Central Oregon Coast viewing harbor seals, sea stars, and anemones among other natural treasures.

Within walking distance from the Cottage, there are quaint shops, a wood carving gallery, Seal Rock Espresso Bakery, and a glass blower’s gallery. You can enjoy your vacation without getting back into your car again or having distractions of TV or internet to interrupt your relaxation.

Whimsy Cottage is located on a narrow lane with no outlet and only one other house on the lane. Our secluded, cozy Cottage is surrounded on three sides with native vegetation that attracts wildlife. Listen to the roaring surf from the sunny deck while reading or daydreaming. Curl up on the couch and watch a winter storm or a beautiful sunset.

From your car, there are five shallow steps to the deck of the single level Cottage. This cozy 2 bedroom, 1 bath, Cottage has a full kitchen and laminate floors throughout. One bedroom has a queen bed, the other has a double bed. The bathroom has an ADA toilet and a low, step-in shower.

From the Cottage you can easily day trip to all that the Central Oregon Coast has to offer from the outlet malls in Lincoln City (no sales tax in Oregon) to the sand dunes in Florence. There are miles of public beaches in between and lots of fun experiences including several golf courses and two casinos.

The owners welcome you to their personal vacation home of simplicity and calm.

Rates include taxes! $100 refundable deposit for first timers. Clean for yourselves or pay a $75 cleaning fee.

Deposits & Policies

Cleaning Fee: $75 or you clean
Cancellation Policy: There is a $75 administrative fee charged for any cancellation. If your reservation is canceled 30 days or more prior to your arrival date, the cleaning fee, if paid, and your rental fee, minus the $75 administrative fee, will be refunded. If your reservation is canceled less than 30 days prior to your arrival date, the cleaning fee, if paid, will be refunded, the $75 administrative fee will be deducted from the rental fee and you will be refunded one half of the balance. If your reserved time is rented by another guest, your full payment will be refunded minus the $75 administrative fee.

Other Policies: Pay via Zelle or Venmo and e-mail the filled out Reservation form. The $100 refundable deposit is only necessary for first timers. Children under age 10 are free. Total fees are payable at the time of reservation or with a payment plan arranged in advance. Cottage details will be e-mailed to you. If you clean for yourselves, you must sign a Cleaning Fee Waiver Agreement e-mailed to you and your extended self check-out time is 2 p.m. No pets allowed on the property.

Whimsy was amazing and I loved the location and beaches. The last 3 days here helped me reset and take a break from all the technology that surrounds us. The past 6 months have been challenging for me and coming here was the best decision for me. I got to see a sea lion napping at a gorgeous beach further south. August 15, 2022, So nice to return to the cottage! We celebrated the 6th birthday of our oldest. Spent time at Seal Rock beach then each morning went to tide pools. We went to the secret beach for the first time and that was so great! What a fun trail. Thanks for a great stay! Oh - we also went to a playground in Newport - 100 SW Coast St - and it was amazing. What a wonderful place to stay on the coast. The cottage is very "hygge" as we Scandis like to say. Every sunset is a delight and you're within 20 minutes of all kinds of beach/trail/recreation spots. Also, Carol was great in helping to arrange our stay. Definitely staying here again. Stayed at Whimsy Cottage May 9-11, 2018. Very nice, clean, comfortable, quiet and yes we could see the ocean and hear it from the front deck. Carol the owner made some great suggestions of places to see and restaurants to try. All very nice.

Whimsy cottage is the perfect place to relax if you like beautiful coastal scenes and lots of peace and quiet. The cottage was clean and well kept and had games, puzzles and everything we needed for a restful weekend. Newport and Walport are so close when you want to go into town, but the seclusion and privacy of the cottage in Seal rock was perfect. With a nephew's wedding in early August and a niece's wedding in late September rather than traveling twice across the country from Delaware to Oregon I chose to remain in Oregon at Whimsy cottage. I couldn't have made a better choice for my month long stay. Well kept and cozy Whimsy Cottage is easy to take care of perfect place to fall asleep at night to the sound of the breaking surf. The neighborhood was wonderfully quiet, one can see the ocean from the cottage, and there is all the beautiful Oregon coast at one's disposal. Seal Rock State Park, just a brief 5 minute walk from the cottage has a beautiful beach, wonderful tidal pools and impressive surf crashing against the off shore rocks. All a photographer's delight! We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage. I love the area it is located in and that Newport is just a short drive away. It was nice to see a little of the ocean while drinking my coffee in the morning. And the little things, like having a closet stocked with toys, games and puzzles so my children had something to do while it was raining make a difference.
